Longwood University has recently completed their transition from DII to DI. They don't play football, but I'm pretty sure there were other areas where they had to improve (mainly in regards to facility quality and capacity). Now, they are also trying to make themselves attractive in order to join a conference, and these improvements may have been more a part of that than the transition to DI.

I know they have built a new field hockey (and lacrosse I think) facility with artificial turf out near their golf course. They have also made major improvements to their softball field. When my brother played baseball there he constantly heard rumors of improvements to the baseball facilities, both on the field and in terms of a clubhouse, but to my knowledge none of that has materialized.

Again, I don't know whether these improvements were part of the DI transition, or if they were made to woo a conference, or possible if they were just part of an overall improvement plan that had been put in place.
Also, I'm pretty sure the number of scholarships avaiable for certain sports are different at the DI and DII levels. Therefore, I would guess that as part of any conversion, a school would have to offer more sports or more fully fund certain sports or cut scholarships in order to comply with Title IX.

For example, a DI-AA football team can offer up to 63 scholarships. A D1 team must have at least 76.5 scholarships in order to remain D1, and they can offer up to 85 scholarships. Therefore, if a team were to move from I-AA to DI, there must be at least 13.5 additional scholarships given to female athletes, or at least 13.5 scholarships taken away from other male athletes. I hope these numbers are correct, as I don't know them off the top of my head and I'm having to rely on a quick internet search for my info.

What's your point?

A few weeks ago you made a big stink I was following you around.

When you give advice you should follow it might earn you more respect here on the HSBBW. JMO.
Gee, I'm sorry! I had you blocked. I didn't notice your post until now. I thought I was complimenting hsbaseballweb on having the information on site. I didn't realize what I was doing is upsetting you. Have a nice day!

I did not interpret RJM's response to be "following" anyone around. Let's not get paranoid!

When I clicked on "answer," I smiled when I realized the requested information was right here on good 'ol HSBBW, which is exactly what RJM intended.

Thanks to both TPM and RJM for providing helpful answers to the original question. Smile
infield08,
I am not paranoid. A week or so ago RJM aka TG told me to stop following him around, then claimed he put me on ignore, but the same day posted a reply to a post I made.

I have done what he asked. I am just not understanding a lot of his BS, for example, he says he has me on ignore, which obviously he doesn't or he would not have seen and replied to my intended last post. Just checking. Wink

I have you on ignore. Then I decide if I want to look. Often I don't notice you posted. I think you're a bit too much into drama. It's only a chat board. Relax.

And the topic is ..... "What are the Criteria for being a D1 NCAA college ?"
