Since one of the threads became politcal I thought people might find this interesting. It's the world's smallest political quiz.

The result From this short, less than one minute, test may surprise you and give
you some food for thought.

The Quiz has gotten a lot of praise. The Washington Post said it has
"gained Respect as a valid measure of a person's political leanings."

The Fraser Institute Said it's "a fast, fun, and accurate assessment of
a person's overall political views."

Suite University said it is the "most concise and accurate political
quiz out there."

You'll be asked just 10 questions, and then it instantly tells you where
you Stand politically.
It shows your position as a red dot on a "political map" so You'll see
exactly where you score.

The most interesting thing about the Quiz is that it goes beyond the
Democrat, Republican, and Independent..

With the bases loaded and two out, I hit a slow curve from a big lefty pitcher sharply into dead center. The centerfielder, who was properly playing me to the right, couldn't quite make the grab and it fell in, surprisingly, for a solid libertarian single.

The runner at third, a libertarian, scored easily. The runner at second, a speedy right winger, collided violently with the big statist catcher who was entirely hogging blocking the plate. Out at the plate!

Even though we lost by a run and our season was over the runner got up, dusted himself off, and declared boldly to the catcher..."wait 'til next year!"

Where you fall is dependant upon the given definitions of conservative, liberal, etc.

The problem with those definitions, is that they are constrained only to the present timeframe. If we were to go back 20 years, when many of our political leanings were formed, there would be quite different definitions. So, any particular question in todays quiz, could have been relegated to a completely different category than it is today.

So when someone calls themselves a conservative today, it may mean that they are in favor of less government control, but still support government action to promote equality, as was the favor of the 1970's and 80's.

Just 10 years ago, to be called a conservative conjured up images of Billy Graham, Rush Limbaugh, and issues as far to the right extreme as possible.

These tags we try and put on our ideals are like ethics, the bar constantly moves to fit the argument and societal feel de jour.

This is very true. It is hard to give a definition that transcends era.

I always describe myself as a "constitutional conservative." That is the best I have come up with as far as self describing in a way that is least dependent on transitory definitions.

Oh - and on the test I was a rhubarb leaning gelatin. Did I take the right test?
