Ok, i'm a sophmore and hoping to play for my varsity team this year. I'm currently playing fall ball as a 10th grader for the varsity team, and want to know everything I can do to work on my game, to get better and try to get scouts looking at me a little bit. I do work hard each practice, monday-friday.. what are some ideas/suggestions I should be doing to improve my game.

LW, print out the timeline and go over it with your parents about what you can do together to research and prepare. The message board is the 'easy' part of the site; read the articles and share the site with your parents.

Your grades may be fine, but (just in case you didn't know yet), colleges are careful to recruit ballplayers they know will remain academically eligible. Good grades and SAT/ACT's may also qualify you for academic money, thus freeing up some of the program's baseball money --- all points in your favor.

Best of luck, and ask all your questions!
move your cursor over to the left and a menu will pop up. You will see "recruiting tips" and "recruiting timeline". Read through all the info on these.

Improve your game with practice. Also you might find some private coaching in your area, attend instructional camps etc. Do speed drills, get stronger. SPARQ web-site has videos of good drills.
Check out the player chat on this message board and ask for resources. I am sure you know what your weak areas are. Hit off the tee etc.
momof5 is right.

My son, who's a year ahead of you, recently got the following email from a college coach. Notice what stood out to him:

i thought you played very well - i was glad i got to see you -

you play hard and hustle and do all of the little things -

i will be in touch this week

LW2ndbase30, if you'll look under general headings on this message board, you'll find a section called "Skills and Tips" with tips for "strength and conditioning," "hitting," "pitching and throwing," "catching," and "fielding and defense." Don't wait for someone to text message you -- look over the tips and you'll have plenty to keep you busy for a good long while.

Good luck!

Grades. Also attend baseball camps where coaches will be and stand out. My son, a senior to be, lives in a small town, minimal exposure, but luckily went to the right college camp this summer and got a verbal offer from a coach he feels he can respect. Don't know about showcases but don't spend money wildly on the hunt if you can avoid it.
If you want to be like everyone else around you then do what they do. If you want to be better than everyone else then do what they are not willing to do. In other words do more than everyone else. Out work everyone else. Have a passion to work at the things that will make you a better player. Run , lift , throw , hit - not just a little more than everyone else around you but way more. Right now your goal should be to push yourself to be the best you can be. Do these things and you will be in a posistion where people want to see you play when it matters the most. Too many times guys are so worried about getting people to see them and they have not spent the time doing the things that makes them the type of player people want to see. Good Luck
I'm playing fall ball now, practicing monday-friday. i'v been playing some outfield now, looking for a spot on varsity. we start playing games in about a week. my coach sent a email to a college for about 5-6 prospects on our team.

i try to out do the other kid, try to play for open spots. we run/condition, take infield/outfield but we cant have a actuall pracitce cause we can get in trouble cause of off season..

im going to look at those tips at the top!
