Mediumpapi is a HS sophomore. He's starting to see these college questionnaires and camp invitations.

They all ask, "What Colleges Are You Interested In?"

How do you answer this question? He's liked every one he's been to. He likes the last 8 to be in Omaha. He has no idea yet what he wants to study?

Do they look at that answer to see who their competition is or do they get mad if they're own school isn't listed?

P.S. Should we tell them not to end a sentence with a preposition?

I love this question. I remember the first one my son got and they asked him to name his top five choices. The school that sent the letter was not one of his top five. He said "Dad , do you think they are going to get upset if I dont list them?" I said "Son there either thinking your dreaming too big with that list or you will be around when they come back calling." "So just be honest because you want them to be honest in return."
I always thought that this question was a complete waste of time. My son was like "most" teenagers, he knew what I will call he ESPN 25 (the same schools that are on TV all the time). Beyond that it was the 4-5 schools in our area.

When he started the process, we sent letters to the 30+ schools on the west coast (we learned that this was a wasted exercise).

It wasn't till we started focusing in on what "attributes" did he want in a college that we could focus on what really would be his top-5. By that time the questionaires had come and gone.
My son is a high school sophomore. We just made a list of fifty colleges. They range from unranked major conference programs, to mid majors to ranked D3's. None of them are top ranked D1 programs. The feeling is if he gets that good we can adapt the list. Other than two schools he doesn't have them ranked although some would rate over others.

I've been through this with my daughter and softball. She's at a college that wasn't on her list. They found her at a showcase. She decided to attend college further away than planned (we still love her anyway ... even though she said she's staying after college).
