What do most D1 scouts look for in pitchers? As far as height, weight, velocity, etc. As of now i am 15 yrs old, sophomore, and i weigh 208. i throw mid 80s and top out at around 86. My question is if you were a scout or if you are what would you be looking for in a pitcher that is D1 ready? I am planning on doing many showcases and camps this summer at some colleges. Thanks for your consideration.

I see your weight, but what is your height?
Are you a righty, or lefty?
RHP: Top D1's are going to look for upper 80's although if you are a Sophomore with good measureables (size), your current velocity might put you on their radar. After your Jr. year you will likely need to be sitting upper 80's, with a very good secondary pitch. Mid to lower D1's will settle on a little less velocity, if you can get outs, and have good movement.
LHP: Top D1's mid 80's - upper 80's. Lower tier D1's lower 80's to mid 80's.
I just read one of your other posts. I see you are 6'5.
Change to my original reply. Top D1 programs look for guys just like you! If you are 6'5, 200 lbs. sitting mid 80's as a Soph., just go to some top summer events, they will like you VERY much. You would project very easily at the next level. Not saying you still don't have to WORK VERY hard, and learn to actually "pitch", but many would kill to have your current size, and velocity.
Beware that they may have interest at 86 as a soph, but they will wait and see if you actually max 90 as a junior.
It's an anxious time waiting for velocity. Make sure that you are also looking at schools that may have an interest in an 86 mph RHP just in case.
How successful r u at that velocity?
What type of pitches do u throw and how is your location?
Are you on a good Summer team and playing where you ll be seen? Once your seen at a camp they will need to come see you pitch in real game. They will have to see something either already very good, or enough to show future potential.
Not everyone gains velocity each yr in HS. Some top out at 86, even the big guys, have seen it here.
If you have mechanical issues get a good pitching instructor and hopefully you ll be someone who develops further.
good luck

Most definitely great solid, simple advise. Those behind you, from a physical development standpoint, will catch up. Working hard will keep you ahead.
