Please turn it back to the old format... this condensed font is ridiculously hard to read!

Condensed??? it's freaking huge on my screen! My problem is the quote within the quote is wicked hard to tell who said what.
I don't have a problem with the font, though it's a bit large. It's a Google font called Open Sans and it's become very popular. I think the width of the content column is an issue, but that apparently is happening so the ads can take up more real estate. I'd go for a bigger window overall.
Anytime a site changes themes it will make some people unhappy, but they usually come around fairly quickly as they get used to it.
I kinda like it, since my eyesight is horrible (if you ask some of the coaches that I deal with.)
It looks cleaner and fresher to me, but the ads are definitely bigger. The only issue was finding messages. Took me a little bit to figure out how to message/dialogue with the new interface. In case people are wondering...
Click on the menu in the upper left corner (the three lines stacked on each other). Click on your username and then select Private Messages. All old messages appear to have made the migration to the new interface.
It's been radicalized.
Change can be perceived as difficult. I'm on a 5.5 cell screen. This is not the situation for change. I'll withhold my initial opinion until I'm on an 8 inch tablet.
Freaked me out a little bit.
Cyberterrorism?
Not nuts about it. Harder to refresh, not as easy to see alerts and messages waiting.
RJM alluded to it: the new format is referred to as Responsive, i.e., it's appearance "responds" to the output device so that it can read clearly across anything without the need to develop different formats for each device: PC, tablet, phone, watch, whatever.
The trend this year has been to reshape websites so that they are long single pages, large typeface, and delivered as Responsive.
Fairly certain that this board can be modified so that the main column can be extended while narrowing the right side menu.
Change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AARRRRRRRRRRRGH!

I kind of like it, I never cared for the last interface we had. I hope that this forces people to search out the right forum for their topics instead of everything in the general forum. But I use my tablet more than my PC and that still looks the same.
JOE, you are correct in all respects. The problem with the column, besides the larger width of the ads, is that it's set to work on a desktop resolution of 1024 pixels wide. That was the standard 5+ years ago, and many designers still adhere to it even though the vast majority of desktop users are using larger monitors. CACO Girl also has a point. The shaded boxes for regular posts make the shaded boxes for quotes not as clear as before, so some additional styling might be a good idea there.
thumbs up

Wicked hard?!? I thought you were from Georgia! That response marks you as a New Englander, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

No one seems to be really "from" Georgia, the place is full of all the people who got tired of shoveling snow ;-)
Looks fine on my 27" UHD monitor
I now have no idea what I am doing (unlike before). Seriously I am lost. The only thing that is constant is change I guess.
New format on my tablet. Its 100% better than the old.

Looks like a twitter account to me...
After a few hours of using the new interface, I'm digging it.
Pros:
1)Bigger fonts for older eyes on my laptop browser. Much easier to read with with mobile device.
2) Dialogs are gone...back to Private Messages which was the previous name for private conversations. It is located under your Avatar or Screen name. All my previous PMs are there.
3) Change is good. Looking more like twitter might not be a bad thing as most young people (ie...high school baseball players) communicate with twitter. Old timers just have to adapt.
Cons:
1) None yet.
If I could suggest a system generated pop-up when I hit submit that says "are you sure you want to post something that dumb?" I could sure use it on my postings.

When you decide you like the change will you consider it wicked pissah?
Call me an old geezer...accurately...but just don't like it. Bah, humbug.
I don't like it. The font needs to be a bit darker and the colors on the main forum boards bleed into each other. Everything looks too washed out. Make the quote boxes darker grey and make the font color a darker blue and it would really help.

Agree with this part -- the color scheme looks washed out a little bit. More contrast will be nice.
I prefer the previous format. But that may just be familiarity. I learned where to look for information there. But getting on my eight inch tablet I don't have any issues with the new format.
There is an important issue to remember regarding format changes. The format may be less expensive to operate. It may be easier to maintain. It may be an upgrade the customer has no choice to accept other than walking away. It's more important Julie is happy. Julie is the customer. We're just along for the ride.
On a non-phone sized screen, the main real estate (opening screen) really is not useful. A lot of wasted space with nothing on it. All you can see is the 'General Items Forum'. Bad design.
I just realized you can't edit your posts anymore. And you guys thought I didn't make any sense before...

You can. Click on "Take Action" on your own post and "Edit" is there. The new format was a little weird for me at first, but I kind of like it.
What I did was make the "Activity" page my bookmark. Then when I come here, I have all the most recent posts listed. Those are the ones I want to look at first anyway.
Thanks bballman.
No problem. Don't need any more non-sensical guys around!! That's for sure. Lol.
This is the way it looks like on my monitor... 1920 x 1080...
As my wife always reminds me, never criticize a volunteer, unless you want to do it yourself.
Thank you HSBASEBALLWEB for this wonderful, FREE site.
OK. Where's the search function?
RootHog - click on the menu icon in the upper left corner (it's the three stacked lines). After clicking, the fly out menu is displayed and Search will be one of the options.
