For many of us, we can trace our kids love for baseball back to their years in Little League. It is apparent that much of the important lessons in life were instilled in the kids in our community that played baseball. It was the first time for my son where he had to really work hard at baseball, be part of a team and learn the lessons of both success and failure.

I am amazed at the success of the group of kids that my son played with during his Little League all-star tournament. The last of them went off to college this fall. When I look at this group, I amazed at the success that they as a group have achieved. There were 11 players on his little league all-star team, nine of them are still playing sports at the collegiate level at some of the best universities in the country.

3rd Baseman – Brown University (Baseball)
SS – US Navel Academy (Tennis)
2nd Base – Stanford University (Football)
1st Base – Trinity University (Baseball)
C – University of Pennsylvania (Basketball)
OF – Hamilton University (Baseball & Basketball)
OF – Yale (Crew)
OF – UCLA (Football)
P – University of Portland (Baseball)
Utl – University of Arizona (out of sports)
Utl – University of Arizona (still plays summer baseball)

To this day, I am very grateful to the dads that coached these kids through their formative years. We were lucky that these kids were able to stay focused and create a competitive environment that benefited all as they matured.
