I met a great guy, PitchInside, on the forums, and then had a chance to meet him up in Everett, WA. He gave my son some great advice. He doesn't post anymore, but what a good guy....

I was also happy to find that I could open my heart and not be attacked or ridiculed on a couple of sensitive posts -- and that HSBBWebsters are the best people around, and won't hesitate to take people by the hand when needed.
The fondest memories are the friendships you make in life. I consider TRHit to be a great friend whom I never would have met if it wasn't for the HSBaseballweb.

Meeting websters at various games is a thrill too. I know my players look at me funny when someone comes up to me and says hello and introduces themselves as Righty08Illinois or something like that.

Another memory will be the people who have called for advice and allowed me to help them in their baseball lives. It's a huge responsibity, but when I look back on the results of the people who have been helped by myself and the bigger guys like Jerry Ford and Tom Rizzi I'm very proud.

That is what this site is all about. Making friends and helping people. Not too shabby.

If this is the end of this site (and I do not think it is), I want to thank everyone who has become a part of my baseball and real life.

As Bob Hope used to say, "Thanks for the memories."
So many....

Watching my son play in the company of Our Bob in Atlanta

MN-Mom turning us on to the right people to get my son the opportunity to play for his National Team; two summers in Europe playing ball, working for MLB, and generally having the time of his life

Following the careers of cyberbuddies' sons like Eric and Zach

Recommending the site to players and parents...in the stands, in the dugout, in parking lots, in restaurants

Chat room evenings when sometimes we even talked baseball

Loads of PMs when help was sought and given, and sons' news shared

But I still can't believe the site won't continue with the help of the Real Old Timers....
The friendships. I have a great friend I met here who has allowed me to share feelings, been honest with me about my son and what I should do to help his future, and shared the joy of our sons and baseball. I have friends who are sharing their paths that allow me to see what roads I should take or send my son down. I have met friends that have a great sense of humor that brigten my day. I've learned things about the game itself. I've learned things about myself as a parent by listening and observing others. I have found a baseball community that allows me to talk baseball when many of my friends don't have an interest in the game (they're still good people!). I have cheered reading stories of great young men that have battled and beat the odds to be able to pursue their dream. I have shed tears for some that have had to give up their dream, but in doing so have shown what great young men they are at the core.

There are soooo many joys and blessings that I have received here. Can't name just one thing. I will miss it greatly.

I keep saying that I think something will happen and the site will remain. I hope I am correct. If it doesn't, I will always remember it for touching my life in many ways.
cv... nice topic!

When I was searching the web years ago and "found this site by accident", just searching hs baseball in general looking for answers like everyone else.

Then suddenly, I came upon something which the name has been changed a little today from what it first was, but here I found what was later to become, The "World Famous" hsbbweb!

Now, an old saying may be used again that is popular with "seniors" but many young folks on the hsbbweb will now fall in line to "quote the quote", however, I truly hope this doesn't happen. The hsbbweb has become a legend in today's cyber world and one that is highly respected and admired by the thousands, young and old. But here goes the words...

"Back in the day", when we had the "World Famous" hsbbweb... the friendship of common baseball folks and knowledge shared with one another was just flawless... and we signed on this great site several times a day to learn and share ideas and we made recommendations to it's new websters as they learned each and every day like everyone else... Oh the memories of the hsbbweb!

Jan. 2000 has to be my favorite memory! That's when I, like so many of you, stumbled on to hsbaseballweb.
Looking to find out more about pitching, the mental side of the game, etc., for my son, who was 12 at the time.
I read, read, read, everything! I got brave enough to email OPP to ask a few things. Then started posting on the boards. I've had the pleasure of meeting so many of you...Bighit15 & son, bkwriter & son, BigWI & son, Bama Bomber, PG folks, TRHit, catcher, & so many more!
I'm grateful for the emails & well wishes from fungo, RHP05dad, bbscout, The Grand Pooh Pa, himself!

I've cried & rejoiced with so many of you!!
I've laughed, too...and that brings me to the funniest posting, a true classic, that Bob has kept all these years...Here's the link to Bubba's Bonanza...Yall read this one more time for a great laugh...
Where is Greg Legg, aka Bama Bomber & author of the memorable tale?
Enjoy it again, folks...

For me it is the great people here many of whom I have met and are now true friends--if I have been able to assist a few that is the cream on top of the cake---

Even though it seems like a memorial service with great things being said about the "memorialized" as Yogi "it aint over til the fat lady lady sings"

We aint got no fat lady here to sing--get the picture

Stay tuned.................
Fondest memory is that through the many correspondences and posts, I learned that "I am not alone". Chances are/were that someone else on this site had experienced the SAME
situation(s)in baseball, and there is great comfort in that. Also, the best thing to come out of it for me was hooking up with some GREAT Baseball Moms out there who ALL have a true appreciation for "diamonds". Dottie, Mary Ann, Colleen, Susan, Amelia, Ann, Julie, Val, Mary, Karen and Helen......thanks for the many cyber laughs and tears....and hoping for many more to come.
I certainly have learned a bunch from this site - no doubt about it. There has been no better venue for keeping current with the recruiting process and events relative to it.

I especially have enjoyed hearing about poster's kids making it to the "next level", whatever that may have been for them. After all, as parents (collectively) that is what we ought to be enjoying most: what we see as success for ours and other kids; and rejoicing in and with our kids. Good luck to all your sons and daughters. I don't really know many of them personally, but I am proud of all of them that continue to dream, continue to have hope.

Aside from that I really have enjoyed the back-and-forth banter (what I consider) off the wall posts. Watching TR and Dibble slugging it out at times; LIMOM's provocative posts, etc. It's been amusing! Getting my daily baseball fix and humor in one place has been a great way to start the day.

I personally would like to thank TR and PG for what they have brought to the table. As one poster previously stated, they don't seem to take anything other than a real interest in helping kids succeed into these message boards. They have left their businesses behind for as much as that can be done.

To Dibble, EYE, LIMOM, and all the others who have contributed to my day - thanks. Not everyone will agree with all of you, and I have not either, but I always appreciate someone laying it all out, whatever the agenda may be. If you really believe in something, stand up and shout! That's what I want my kids to do, anyhow. If your just here to stir the pot, cause a little havoc, so be it. It's harmless for the most part and above all, some of us find humor in it. It's been fun.
Neat things:

Learning that JustMom's son and mine would be playing together in a showcase, and then meeting and getting to know JustMom and Justmom's husband and sons. Awfully nice people for city folks.

CV has been a good friend for years, having met through the bonds of baseball, and we have exchanged thoughts and information for a few years privately, and it's really neat to see his son, and the sons of other websters I've met progress through high school and into college ball.

OldVaMan and MrMom are guys I've now had the pleasure of meeting in person, and son number one will likely be playing in OldVaMan's backyard before long so I'll likely cross paths with him some more. ItsRosey was a neat guy to meet, just because how else would fathers from Illinois and Virginia come together at a showcase in Florida, and have a common interest-baseball and this web site.

Bar none, this site is the best thing the internet has ever done for me.
Fondest memory is my initial "argument" with TRHit and NYMom re the Ivy League and the SEC and ????

Never in my WILDEST dreams did I ever envision his (my son) going to an Ivy League school.

Too, the input of so many of you, whether professional baseball people; scouting services; coaches; kids; moms and dads....all a part of this great game.

Bob...a great big THANK YOU.

We will survive.
