Well, today ended another summer baseball season for me, a great coaching staff, and 18 tremendous young men.
This team was one of the most enjoyable groups to be around that I've ever been involved with. They bought into the system early, played for each other, and truely enjoyed the game together.
The DBAT Mustangs 17U team this year had 5 starting 16's in the line up most the time. They held their own against the big boys all summer long, but just came up short this weekend. I'm already excited about the possibilities for this group next year.
By far, the best group of parents I've been involved with. Good, fun, and understanding people. A realistic perspective is a wonderful thing.
Cade, Shayne, and Sam........thanks for the opportunity.
Ryan, Ben, Dax, and Roberto.........thanks for all your help. You boys made my job easy.
And my man Steinbrother...........who would have thought we would have had such laughs together? I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat brotha. I enjoyed it dude.
Most of all, thank you players. I had to leave my shades on today for a reason after the game. We were a team. A team that I can't wait to get together again next summer. You boys made me love the game all over again.
For now, momma and the boy are on their way home. Can't wait to reunite with my family again. Maybe next year little man can even stay in the dugout some. If not, who cares. We will be watching ducks and bucks this fall together.
