What's small town's high school baseball like? Do pitchers throw curves and off speed stuff at this level?

If you are a fan of the game (as your bio says) you should know that question, so I am not even gonna go there because some of the questions, lately, are just ridiculous!

The big difference is small town/small high schools is usually the lack of depth of talent versus a large high school. But the game is played the same.
jaybbfan- Disregard the first answer and read RJM's. Straight and to the point.
Welcome jaybbfan, I hope that you enjoy your time on the site. There are many wise participants that have years of experience who share their knowledge and that can be very beneficial to you. Spend some time reading posts and using the search function to see if your topic has been discussed previously. Some issues are in heavy rotation! I live in a pretty small town outside of a large metropolitan area. The local HS has several pitchers that have 3 pitches in their arsenal. I would recommend you attend a game in your town, talk to some folks there and see if you can determine what the pitchers throws. Best of luck to you.
I think I can answer that question. My son played for the largest secondary school in Northern Virginia, then we moved to a small Texas town. He went from a large 5A to a 3A. As RJM stated, the difference was depth. 3A Texas teams had one good D1/D2 level pitcher (3 teams had a pitcher drafted), then there was a sharp fall in depth. The N.Virginia 5A school usually had about 2 D1s followed by some D2s/D3s, similar to Texas 5As.
When my 2013 played his last HS season, the #1 pitcher was a D1 Juco while the #2 was a sophomore. My 2013 was the #1 relief/closer and he's currently the #3 pitcher for an NAIA school.
