I am a Senior LHP looking to play d3 baseball. Drawn moderate interst from low level programs in tri state area. I have a question about how I should prepare for next year, I have pitched in a couple of games and did well considering the coach asked if I would only care if I only pitched one inning the whole year. We have started league games and I haven't pitched, not expecting to. But in practice all we do is team defense and BP how do I go about preparing myself for pitching . How do I go about this, starting to lose confidence and hope. But I know when my turn is
called I do as I am expected. Thanks

O'sfan2032,

Are you on a summer team that gets looks from college coaches? If not, it is probably too late to go that route. Have you been throwing on your own? My son is a Freshman on JV who was asked to enter the first game of the year in 30 degree weather after sitting for 5 innings. He was yanked after an infiled single, a walk and a line drive hit loaded the bases and has not seen the mound for the next 10 games. Fortunately, I am able to catch him and he still throws twice a week away from practice. Do you have someone you can work with to throw on your own?

Most Division 3 programs probably provide an opportunity to walk on through a tryout. If you are a senior now, you must have applied to some schools. Contact the coach and ask for the opportunity to throw for him. I would think most coaches would not turn down the chance to look at a lefty pitcher. whatever you do, don't let one man's opinion define you as a player.
