11 year old son playing middle infield and center. Last year his coach had him switch to a smaller glove to play SS and 2nd. (10 1/2" glove) This year he will also be playing SS and centerfield on his travel team.

My question is should he go with a bigger glove when playing Centter field and if so what size glove would you recommend. I was thinking maybe a 11 1/2" glove???

My 10-year old (plays 11u AAU/USSSA) uses a 10.75" Rawlings HOH PRO227-8JB... He mainly plays SS, 3B & Pitcher... plays some outfield too in a blowout... This glove is the perfect glove for all-around play IMHO, because it fits his hand perfectly and it's adjustable to fit even a smaller hand or larger one...

Rawlings doesn't make it anymore, unfortunately... So whenever I see one I try to pick it up on ebay or wherever... He plays a lot, and the Florida sun and sweat really tears them up a bit...

Good Luck.

When my son was a preteen he had three gloves. He had two $29 Rawlings Jeter model gloves. One was 10.5. One was 11.5. It makes a difference in the outfield. The third was a catcher's mitt. Catching was where the money went on gloves relative to the preteen years. Those $29 gloves were good gloves. They were also good to go off the shelf.
