I'm in a bit of a predicament right now. I'm a high school baseball player who is doing indoor track in the northeast in order to get faster for the baseball season. The practices have been very intense and I was wonderinf how much I should be training on baseball specific things? As of now I workout 2-3x per week and get hitting in 6x per week. I also throw 2-3 times per week with band work. Is this sustainable? Thoughts?

If you're just doing track to get faster for baseball, I'm not sure you're making the best use of your training time.  In my opinion you could go to a strength/speed trainer once a week for an hour or two and get better results than you're getting training with a HS track coach....and spend a lot less time doing it.  Just my opinion, but if it was my son, that's what I would have him do.

My sons HS baseball coaches prefer kids play in other sports on their off time from baseball.  Winter track is a good option.

I think you need recovery days where you do NOTHING to be honest.  Track trains your legs, you should be working your upper half 1-3 times per week in a controlled program.  This doesn't mean for 2 hours at a time, this means for like 30 minutes at a time.  Either ask the baseball coach or trainer for a workout, OR, you can google it.  Band work should be part of your upper body workouts.

Hitting....well here is the thing about hitting, everyone is different.  Some people don't pick up a bat all winter long.  Some change their entire swing and have to work on it 4-6 days a week with an instructor.  Some work on hitting without supervision and drill BAD mechanics into their formerly decent swing.  Only you know which you are doing.

Please remember NOT ALL WORK IS GOOD WORK!!!! You can screw yourself up.
