Hi everyone -

Currently, I have a few nagging injuries. Nothing serious, just a strained hamstring and something with my back, but not sure what. I tried to practice through them, but none of the reps were quality. So, my coach told me that I should probably take a week off from everything - lifting, throwing, hitting, running - so that they can heal completely.

But, what can I do to still make this week productive? I was thinking about doing some reading (Such as rereading the Mental Game of Baseball), but I'm looking for some other stuff as well. Any suggestions?

During down time due to injury, or weather.......2016 would do calf raises on the stairs, at home. He swims, so would go to the local indoor facility and use a kick board, or fins.........depending on what he was "nursing"

He also would do a lot of slow motion work on pitching and hitting, in front of a mirror......just breaking everything down into the smaller parts.

Ron Polks book is great for the mental game.

And he loves yoga when he is injured.

Sometimes ya just have to shut it down but there is always something you can work on.

Based on the nature of your injuries, I like yours and Truman's thoughts.  Mental game book or complete refresh.  Both those types of injuries can be nagging if not completely rested/healed.

If you're not sure what the back issue is, you should get that checked.  Did you utilize the school trainer to assess the back?  If it is something slightly out of place as opposed to a strain or pull, a good trainer and/or chiro can make adjustments that can be quite effective.
