Hello everyone,
Well, my Freshman son's first high school season is over! He had such a good season, getting plenty of pitching experience, and lots of time at 1st base. We're now having a great time watching the schools Varsity team, which has advanced to the top 4 in the Colorado 5A playoffs. The finals are next weekend. Sitting in the stands for most of the past two weekends has really got me to thinking. All of the high school players in our part of the state try out for Legion summer ball. The school will end up with 4 teams this year. Two C teams, and two A teams. I'm not sure where my son will end up, but it is quite possible that our usual carpool buddy's will end up on different teams...
So, my thoughts were really picturing myself getting my son to 50-70 {depending on which level team} games, with possibly just the help of my husband. Sounds to me like I will be spending the months of June, and July living out of my car!
I just thought I would start a discussion about what to pack along to keep my son and I comfortable, healthy, and sane! How about what to pack in the cooler? We like to eat healthy, so we don't do a lot of fast food. Does anyone find time to get some exercise for themselves into a busy day? Please share your ideas! I'd like to make this a great summer for the whole family!

I have a large 6' umbrella, it has a long 2 piece thin pole that raises and lowers. I attach this to my chair with little bungee cords so I am hands free. It raises enough to let air through, and if it rains I lower it to keep me and the chair dry.

I use a mister, fill it with cooler water and ice, attach it to the umbrella pole, pump it up and it really cools you down.

At first my family called me "Cheap" for bringing sandwich meat, cheeses, fruits, salads, breads etc. But we had many overnite weekends and I was more than tired of eating out, other than some of the nicer places availible now and then. It wasn't long befor they were coming to my room to eat.

Bring what you both like and enjoy.

I kept a bag packed with sunscreen, bug spray, band-aids, contacts solution, zip lock bags... oh gracious their hat can stink in the summer! A couple of books for rain delays, between games, or waiting after games. Some Advil and tums.
