2013Dad,
There is no short answer to your question. I'll try to explain.
There are PG Teams sponsored by MLB Scouting Departments. There are PG Teams sponsored by other organizations. There are PG Teams that are run by PG Coaches. I believe the teams run by PG coaches cost close to $600.
The thing to remember is this event looks for the most talented players in the country. Most of these players are on the rosters of the many club teams and scout teams entered each year. However, some top players are not on those rosters, thus the reason for these additional teams.
We actually try to contact the players we are looking for. Anyone can request a roster spot, but not very many will be or can be accepted. This is definitely a scouting and recruiting event. In fact, think I can say, it is the biggest "scouting" attraction in all of baseball.
If a good prospect can't afford to be on one of those teams, we try to get him on one of the sponsored PG teams or one of the other teams entered. So there is no clear cut answer to your question. The answer is $0 to around $600 if it is a PG team, but it is a selective process.
We have no idea what costs are associated with other teams entered. Some are fully sponsored so there is no cost to the players. We've heard that some teams in the past have charged players thousands of dollars. Often those very expensive teams lack the necessary talent and are not invited back. This event is all about talent!
