After all the mid-season euphoria the city is waking up to reality.

They have 3 pitcher's...1 is a head case...1 is pitching over his head and 1 is realizing his ability in the bigs for the 1st time.

Lee ain't hitting like Lee.
Soriano is hurting.
Ramirez is concerned with Ramirez.

They do have a great manager and 2 solid little cajun's!

Bottom Line:

It's NOT gonna happen.

Two months to go and the Cubbies are in contention----
You cannot say the same for the Sox

Interesting---why not wait until the season ends before you SOXNOLE people get on the "other" team---at least thay have a shot---do the SOX ?

Sometimes Soxnole I wonder if you are a true baseball fan---true baseball fans appreciate the teams that do well---

What an unusual occurrence today at Wrigley. Homegrown star pitcher opts to forgo free agency and re-sign with his team for 5 more years at a much lower $$ than what he'd have gotten this fall. How stupid the SF Giants must feel having forked over riduculous $$$ to Barry Zito when a 26 yr old stud signs for far less. I loved when he spoke of his 10 year relationship with Jim Hendry as being a major reason for his wanting to remain a Cub. Omar Minaya would have let Zambrano write his own check for at least 7 years if he'd come to the Mets.

I think this is a very interesting move which may give some credence to Hendry remaining with the new owners. This is an impressive signing, especially under these unusual circumstances. JMO.

Fastball just having a little fun, no hard feelings, we are all smart, smart to set aside time to argue and bicker on what is supposed to be a High School web site, a bunch of dads acting like preschoolers. Why do so many dads spend so much time on here? If you really examine it, it is quite disturbing! I am outta here! oh I am 17 not 47.

Aw hell, Bergen. You started out talking out of your neck and quickly moved down to your a**. Dumbing it down is not a conscious choice for you, my man, it's all you got.

Can you keep track of what you need to do in a game when a guy on the other team hits a line shot that pops you in the head while you're sitting in the dugout in the seventh inning? It shouldn't present much of a challenge because you were probably napping and drooling there since the second.

Are you proposing talking out of the backs of your kneecaps? It's all the same, neck to a** to kneecaps...you're a baiter and a whiner, speaking below the brain and obviously feeling shortchanged about something. Your comments on the Top Tier article in that deleted thread spoke to that fact. You're obviously feeling bitter about something.

Based on the way you've spewed on this site, general tone and all, it wouldn't be difficult for Steve Bort and company to figure out who you are.

Or, who's daddy you are. THAT scenario seems much more likely.

You'ld think every team would get lucky once every hundred years. I guess not. It hasn't happened for the Cubs.

As for Ozzie, he won a world championship, then came back with a 90 win season. I guess every manager that has a losing season should be fired immediately, regardless of his track record. Give me a break. Most of the managers would be fired every year.

Well many of the strongest and most accurate catchers around the league now and in the past have been described as 'having a gun for an arm'. I'm afraid they' re seeing more and more signs like this one and they're now checking their gun at the turnstile.

Would that be the same winless month that Jon Steven Garland just rung up with those White Sox? The difference this year is that you don't have to worry about October.

Was Ben Sheets the man last night? He certainly was and deserves his props. I think Lou is being too stubborn about Soriano in the leadoff. I know, I've heard all the BS, but right now it's about the team, and this team clearly does a better job offensively with Theriot leading off and DeRosa batting second. JMO.

I hear 'ya. But, my booing at home was towards Lou for putting the man in a positon to fail. He's right off the DL, can't run yet, always a high strikout risk, and he's leading off. Booing a player for starting out slowly after a long stint on the DL is ignorant but for some of those old timers out there that want it so badly they're not thinking rational. Kind of like being stranded on a island and quickly running out of food and water. LOL.

BTW, It was Murton with the GWRBI. Carlos Marmol= filthy.

Soxnole, I tried to put an understanding behind what in my opinion is undeserved booing of a player. Well, today's booing of Ryan Dempster cannot be explained or rationalized by any true baseball fan. This closer has been lights out for 2 months. Nary a blemish on his perfomance until today. Then, a couple of dingers and a ball hit into a jetstream. Here come the boos. It really ****ed me off because it was totally bush league by some bush league fans.

rosy, I totally agree...seems a little crazy that fans would boo a guy with 13 straight saves and 25-28 chances!

Bottom line: After what seems like a million years of cub failure, it's my feeling that the booing is for the entire team which has flopped to a 14-19 record in the last 33 games.

Cub fans know they are not even close to the 05 Sox and seem destined for immediate playoff failure, even if the horseshoe Lou is stowing in a dark place gets them to the playoff's. That is the reason for the wrigley fan attitude of late.

and....where is FastballDad these day's?

You've almost got it right. Where you're wrong, and will always be wrong, IMO, is that any Cub fan cares even one iota about the 05 Sox. We simply don't care and that is something that Sox fan's either can't or don't want to admit. That's old news and you're staring at a pathetic team only 1 3/4 yrs removed from a championship.

WRONG!

You may be THE ONLY non-caring cub fan when it comes to the 05 World Champs.

It's killing EVERY cub fan I know and will continue "ad infinitum"!!!!

Don't get me wrong....EVERY Sox fan I know is concerned with the current minimal cubbie success.

Contrary to your opinion however, my Sox fan circle is NOT overly upset about the 07 season of futility.

The GLOW is still there for the VAST majority of South Side fandom. (2005 sure beats 1908)(59 beats 45) and of course there is alway's the most glorious 1906 decider!
