Son had his first college games this past weekend and in their game on Sunday they had the following calls/plays.

Batter Interference
Catcher Interference
A runner on third called out for touching the batted ball in fair territory. He jumped forward to get out of the way of a line drive shot and it hit his backside.

I thought it was a very well called game and to see those three calls all made in a single game was a first. You can go an entire season and not see any them....so that lead me to think, I wonder.....

What are the most and stranges calls/plays you have see in any one game?

Those aren't really that uncommon. Batter interference is the most common, and IMO, it's not called enough. I see catcher's interference a couple three times a season, and a runner out for being hit by a batted ball about as often.

I had a 16U game once where one team tried to pull a fast one. Late in the game, down a run, they got the first two hitters on base. R2 was a chubby kid and R1 was a roadrunner. The coach called time to talk to his runners, and when they broke up, the runners swapped positions (they were snickering).

After my partner put the ball in play, I got R1 for passing, R2 for running the bases in reverse order and dumped all three. And they lost.

Here is a good one:
Had R1 on 3rd, R2 on 2nd. Home team batting trailing 5-6 in the bottom of the 7th(last regulation inning) with 2 outs. B/R hits a line drive down the first base line. R1 crosses the plate and starts celebrating as he picks up the bat laying up the first base line. He raised his arms in the air holding the bat facing the crowd with his back to the ball. The throw came in from right field and sailed into R1 as R2 crossed the plate. Everyone rushed the field. I began calling time, and informed the coaches that I had interference on R1 and R2 is out for the third out.

So tie game, top of the 8th?

Yes we went into the top of the 8th and continued play.

At least three times in HS baseball the last three years, I've seen the walkoff situation where the offense dog piles before touching the appropriate base. It's usually our team. The coach is aware, but it doesn't help. One special night the defense could've turned a double play by forcing a base runner and the batter, but instead threw the ball out of play in frustration.

2. FU overuling PU (after appeal) foul tip 3rd strike (went straight to the catcher's chest protector) and defensive team had to come back out of dugout to finish the inning, and R2 was called out for missing 3B for what would have been the go ahead run.

Is this all the same situation or two separate ones? Either way, can you give more information on the "foul tip" scenario?
