It has been more than a couple of decades since having any experience with scouts. Back in that day, the scouts came to HS, Legion & College games.... Times thay are a changin'

I must say that the information available here on this web site is an valuable tool for both players and parents...

All that being said....

When did "The Showcase" environment begin?

Where did it start?

When did it overtake the roving scout?

Where is it going?

Let me see if I can be of assistance and I speak only from my experience--I do not speak for others

01--as far as I can see it began to fully bloom nattionwide in the early mid 90's

I know Area Codes was begun earlier but they are , to me anyway, not a typical showcase --they are differentin that they do their thing thru the pro scouts.

02--- as far as starting it began in various places around the country in a regional format back in the early 90's

03-- I don't think it has ovetaken the roving scout-- I think it has made it easier for the roving scout. The major impact , for us anyway, has been with the college coaches who can see up to 120 players on one field over a period of days.

04-- where is it going?--- right now the arena is saturated--in time it will filter down to those who have the best to offer and fulfill their promises.

I hope this helps
