Situation: 1 out, team at bat up 1, bottom 6th of 7 inning game, man on third, batter hits hard ground ball toward 1st/2nd gap, right-handed 1st baseman fields it cleanly, could probably make the putout at 1st but tries unsuccessfully to make play on runner going home , batter reaches 1st safely. Good throw, no error, basically a called hit and run executed well.

Is this a single-RBI or an FC-RBI for stats purposes and if scored as an FC does the FC count negatively against batters average?

GameChanger problem, if you haven't already guessed.

Thanks.

10.06(d) - A base hit is not awarded in the following cases - When a fielder fails in a attempt to put out a preceding runner and in the scorers judgement the batter-runner could have been put out at first base.

So it is a FC & RBI as described.  FC counts as an At Bat and since there is no hit it will negatively impact batting average.
