It’s the death of essay homework… lol!

I made students put their phones on a mark I put on each desk when students took tests or did writing assignments.  Touch the phone and get a zero.  Also, schools have programs that allow the teacher to lock student computers (issued by the district) allowing only one site to be accessed which was the site the paper was being written.  For AP, students are often given 45 min to organize and write a paper.  That is then submitted on Google.

This is the funniest thing I've read in a long time!  I hope that many baseball coaches are getting emails like this.  Oh, wait - didn't recruiting all move to twitter anyway?

Can ChatGPT come up with a good tweet that includes all this info?

I took @nycdad prompt "Write A TWEET to a college baseball coach telling him why you want to play at his school. You are a pitcher that has a 93mph fastball, 85mph change up, and 82mph slider. Include details of your pitching."

Didn't like the first reply I got and told ChatGPT to make it snappier and this is the tweet:

"Hey Coach [Coach's Name]! ⚾️ I've got a 93mph fastball, an 85mph changeup, and an 82mph slider in my pitching arsenal. 💪🔥 I'm ready to bring that heat and dominate on the mound for [School Name]. Your winning tradition and player development make it the perfect fit for me. Let's make some magic happen together! 🏆 #PitchingProspect #Future[SchoolName]Ace"

That's a good point. First thing my son said when I showed him this was "No coach is reading that whole thing".

ChatGPT was way too wordy. No coach is going to read all of that

It should be more like:

Dear Coach (name)

I am a (height/weight) (position).  I run a (60 time) and throw (velocity #) and have a (number) exit velocity.  My GPA is (score) and my most recent SAT/ACT score is (score).

That was my initial reaction as well

Concur.  I always thought it was very important to grab the coaches attention in the 1st sentence or even in the header of the email.  I always wondered if something like this would work:

Coach XXXX, I was at the the game last Saturday and noticed this hot mom sitting in the coach's booth.  Turns out it was your wife.  Man do you have an eye for talent, WHICH IS EXACLTY WHY YOU NEED ME IN YOUR PROGRAM.

then go into your baseball skills...................

My son is an absolute force in baseball. His swing? Picture-perfect, a thing of beauty. When he connects, that ball doesn't just leave the park—it goes into orbit! And his arm? Let's just say it's like a laser-guided missile. Scouts? They're practically on their knees, begging him to join their teams. Brace yourselves, because my boy is heading straight for stardom, but you all knew that already!

love ChatGPT!

Write a letter of introduction to the head baseball coach of Mississippi State expressing interest in playing baseball. Give subtile indications that you are a dog.

Dear Coach [Head Coach's Name],

I hope this letter finds you in high spirits. I recently had the pleasure of witnessing the remarkable achievements of the Mississippi State baseball program, and I must say, it left me howling with admiration. As I reflect on the teamwork, camaraderie, and passion displayed by the Bulldogs, I am inspired to share my own unique story and express my genuine interest in joining your esteemed team.

Throughout my "fetching" career, I have developed an insatiable love for the game of baseball. From the satisfying crack of the bat to the thrill of rounding the bases, the sport has captured my heart in ways that are difficult to express through human words alone. As a dog who appreciates the intricacies of the game, I have spent countless hours chasing balls, honing my agility, and mastering the art of teamwork.

Although my journey may seem unconventional, it has undoubtedly shaped me into a resilient and adaptable athlete. My heightened senses and lightning-fast reflexes have become my greatest assets, allowing me to track down fly balls with precision and cover ground in the outfield like no other. I have an uncanny ability to read the game, anticipating plays before they unfold, and providing an edge to any team fortunate enough to have me.

In addition to my physical attributes, I pride myself on embodying the core values that make baseball such a beloved sport: loyalty, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. My teammates, both human and canine, have always recognized my unwavering commitment to the game, as I offer unwavering support and encouragement, never hesitating to lend a paw when needed.

While I may not boast a traditional baseball résumé, I believe my passion, tenacity, and unique perspective on the game could bring a fresh breath of excitement to the Bulldogs. I am eager to learn from your esteemed coaching staff, collaborate with talented teammates, and contribute to the continued success of the program.

I would be honored to have the opportunity to discuss further how my skills, spirit, and wagging tail could enhance the Mississippi State baseball team. Thank you for considering my application, Coach [Head Coach's Name]. I eagerly anticipate the possibility of bringing my love for the game and my furry charm to the hallowed grounds of Mississippi State University.
