Hi All.

I am heading down to watch my son play in the 16u wwba PG event in Marietta/Emerson in July. My son is traveling and staying with the team, but my family is driving down and securing our own lodging.

Can you suggest some decent places to stay? Are you aware of any options for private home rentals? Swimming pool would be great.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks very much!

My clients office is 1 mile from Lakepoint and I am happy to report that 2 new Hotels have just been built there right by the fields. I saw another sign a couple of days ago that a Fairfield Inn is also coming soon. If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend booking today. Because the only closest place that I can think of to book a Hotel is just north of the Emerson exit in Cartersville. Which is only a 10 minute drive down Interstate 75 with a TON more restaurant choices. The only places currently to eat at the Emerson/Lakepoint exit is a McDonald's (in same building as a Gas station), Wendy's, Chic-Fil-A, and a new Krystal's is almost completed.

We always stayed in hotels.  If you can't stay right next to Lakepoint I would suggest staying south of there maybe 10 minutes or so north of downtown ATL.    That way you are almost always going the opposite way of traffic.  You want to be moving north in the mornings and south in the afternoon evenings.  Worked well for us.

You can't beat it. Stayed here 4 years ago when my son was at East Cobb...even better location now that they're at LakePoint.   Right on Lake Allatoona, 20 minutes or so from the park.  Bring your boat, jetskis, etc.  It's probably booked for this summer, but worth a try.  Jonathon is a good guy....tell him the Ohio guy sent you.   I had it booked for last month for my son's college spring trip...couldn't go...so another couple used it with their inlaws.  They loved it and said it was every bit as good as I told them.    If it's booked, just go to www.vrbo.com and search Lake Allatoona.  We used VRBO 3 times in 3 summers when my son was playing travel ball.  Much, much better than any hotel.

We stayed at the following hotel for 5 nights in late July of 2015.

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Atlanta Northwest at Windy Hill Road, GA
4500 Circle 75 Parkway
Atlanta GA 30339
United States
+1 770 956-9919

I got a 1 King bed, Non-smoking, 1 Bedroom Ste-2 TV-2 Bathrooms-Living Area

Given that our games were all over the place this seemed to be a good location.  It came with free breakfast and a free light dinner including beer/wine.

This hotel wasn't on the required hotel list by PG but we didn't care.  We ended up with a better deal.

Check homeaway.com, vrbo.com, airbnb.com    We stayed on  Lake Allatoona one year in an apartment above a garage right on the lake.

Have stayed at the DoubleTree (2x) in Kennesaw.  Also, the Comfort Suites in Kennesaw.  Both nice.

Most recently, stayed at the HIlton Garden Inn in Carterville, which is a darling town to explore.  At least one time.

I would suggest the Woodstock area.  Easy access to the highways if the games are not at Lakepoint, back streets to LakePoint, lots of reasonable hotels, shopping and food.  It is exit 7 and 8 on 575 and exit 9 has an outlet mall that has Under Armour and Nike there.  It's also not too difficult to get to Better Baseball from there if your player needs some kind of gear in a hurry.  East Cobb is 10 minutes away, Lakepoint is 20-30.

FYI .. most likely only two games at Lakepoint.  The remainder of the games will be at schools located near the team assigned hotel.  Might want to consider the area where most of the games are being played first.  Otherwise, could be quite a bit of travel and heavy traffic around Atlanta.

Check out Swheat Market, Scott's walk up BBQ, City Cellar, or Ross' Diner in Carterville for great eats.  If you are into Cajun food, Henry's Louisiana Grill in Acworth is a must.

Unless they've changed things, I'm not sure they consider the hotel for assigning games.  It certainly wasn't a consideration when we played there.  Almost all the games are on the North or Northwest side of Atlanta....which is also where the hotels are.  We had 2 games on the same day.....an hour apart and completely different directions from the hotel.  If you wait until schedules are released, you'll never get a room....everything is booked long before then
