I was walking by a local 8-year old all star team's scrimmage the other night when I noticed something I thought was peculiar.

Nearly all of the parents were standing behind the bench...not sitting in the bleachers by the backstop watching the game.

Why? Attend to Junior? Hear the coaches' every move? I'm really confused.

It may seem subtle, but I've never seen this before...both teams. Looked like too much oversight to me...but maybe I'm misinterpreting it?

- The dugout provides shade and it's hot
Nope, not an issue. Shady, cool evening anyways.
- To keep the kids from chewing on each other
Do they really need that much oversight? Can't coach set rules and handle it (shouldn't be coach if not)? They're mostly on the field. Do school teachers need this kind of 'help?' Don't understand why this would be a good reason?
- To keep the kids from chewing on their glove
No comment.
- To keep the kids from wandering away
Coaches' job IMO. Even if not, mom/dad can send them back to dugout from bleachers anyways.
- To tell their kid to stop picking their nose
Funny! No comment here either. Big Grin
