We learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp; some are dull; some are pretty;
some have weird names; all are different colors.
And they all have to learn to live in the same box.

I haven't even started my shopping and I'm busy working, but I'll stop by and say HI! 14

H-mom, here is a day brightener ... I love technology! Received a cellphone-to-e-mail-text-message from my son reminding me to take care of a phone call for him, but here's the closing: "i love you soo much!"

Wow, sweet talk like that will get you everywhere! (Okay, I suspect his girlfriend typed the note, but I'll take it anyway.) Smile

Julie ...

I have found, over the course of 5 years, that I get some of my best info from my son's girlfriend. She occasionally has to be the translater, if you know what I mean ...

Plan to send you a message later today ref AJ's last outing in fall ball ...

Take care.

I will stop in to say "Hi" as well...

I have most of my Christmas shopping finished. And even last Friday the day after Thanksgiving I had the best surprise.

Went out of town for a ladies shopping spree..left at 5 a.m. As I rounded the corner at around 10 p.m. that night ...what did my eyes behold - but, lights on the house and a lighted Christmas tree in the window.

Hubby and baseball son had hung lights up and bought me a new tree!!!!

It was a miracle..been married 21 years and this was a FIRST...at my house.

Nice ending to a wonderful day!
Highlander Mom -

Some of us got to spend the morning shoveling snow, sleet off cars and walks so we could drive to work and now we get to drive home in more if this yucky stuff..

I HATE Winter!!! Only 6 inches tonite and tomorrow so hopefully roads are clear tomorrow for shopping..

Did I tell you I HATE Winter

HI!!! Big Grin Just doing the holiday thing...very slowly. Lights are up, decorating inside is ongoing, thinking (agonizing) about shopping and Christmas cards. Should be in the mood today, since it's beginning to look like a Christmas card outside. I believe a fire in the fireplace will be in order tonight...along with a glass of merlot and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" on the tube. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood! Smile

Is this heaven?...
I have almost finished my Christmas shopping...I should own stock in JC Penney by now! Eek They keep sending me these darn coupons and I keep going there and using them. Wink But I am proud of the great bargains that I have found...at least in my mind they are bargains. Smile I guess that's all that really counts, huh? Even my husband agrees and that's a BIG plus! greenjump

We have lights on the house and along the sidewalk and driveway. We are getting our live tree this weekend. My boys will be pleased when they come home for Christmas. Isn't it funny that no matter how old our kids are we still want to treat them to an "old-fashioned" Christmas with all the trimmings and family traditions? I just love this time of year! thumb

Hi All,
Son called from SW Virginia this morning and he had 4 inches of snow on the ground. He said they have a "snow day" and are taking the day off. He was going sledding with most of the baseball team and boy, is he ever in the holiday mood.
2 weeks from tomorrow and he comes home. I can hardly wait! greenjump greenjump

Plus, I made reservations today for opening weekend in February to see him play. Even more reason to celebrate. That is my Christmas present to myself!
Justmom ... noidea ... snow? What is snow?

beepers ... noidea ... Working working working? What is work?

I joke about these things, but please trust me when I say that I consider myself the most fortunate woman in southern Cal ... I don't have to deal with snow unless I choose to (and then I get to drive TO it) and because I have a wonderful husband (don't tell the "boys of HSBB" that I said that) who takes real good care of me, I don't have to deal with work unless I want to, either.

We are getting things done around here ... lights up the day after Thanksgiving, and some inside decor starting to show up. Hubby has done a lot of "his shopping" and I am getting done on most of the rest. Son finished "fall ball" Wednesday and has finals all of next week, then home for the holidays.

Please keep checking in ... I love to hear about everybody's holiday plans and festivities. We'll probably have to do a "winter holidays traditions" thread pretty soon.

I have no idea what is this 'snow' of which they speak. I do know it will be bloody cold here this weekend....65F! Brrr...

Lights are up, a significant amount of shopping done (bless eBay), interior decorating scheduled for this weekend, and the parties start tomorrow night!

But most importantly, one week until the Boy comes home....and starts his annual cry of 'when are you going to make the Santa Clause cookies'?

Hi All - I'm actually in Vancouver, BC for a quick get-away trip to visit one of my best friends. Love her, but (just between us), her computer stinks.... Smile Anyway, enjoying a mini-break before the holiday rush begins in earnest. She hosts a very competitive cookie exchange every year, which will be held tomorrow. I plan on competing in the 'most fat grams' category with my tried and true German Christmas Cookie recipe. We will also be served some pretty lethal holiday cheer, so if I post anything tomorrow afternoon that doesn't make sense, my apologies in advance noidea Christmas lights are up on our house, and the tree is purchased, but nothing else will be done (I think) until I return home. I'm going to drop a hint a la Texas 2004. It would be so great to arrive home to find the tree up and the lights on!!!

"Dear Pastor, Please say a prayer for our Little League team. We need God's help or a new pitcher. Thank you. Alexander. Age 10"
Hi all!

Guess I should be thanking the weather for giving us all this snow, as it forced me to stay indoors today and thereby get most of my decorating done! I have three trees...got the two artificial ones done today....guess we'll be trudging through the snow and winds tomorrow to cut down our 14 footer! Sounds like fun! Roll Eyes I'll feel MUCH better once that monster is up! Altho, this will be the FIRST year we try to carry and set-up this monster without our son's muscles. I'm sure it will be a sight to behold! Eek

Had a funny phone call from my son today. Apparently the "boys" got caught and ambushed in a snowball fight in the quad today. My son said it was absolutely HILARIOUS as the kids who bombarded them didn't realize they were on the baseball team! Imagine their surprise when those snowballs were fired back at them at 90 mph by some of those pitchers! biglaugh I just laugh thinking about the looks that must have been on their faces as they were bombarded. My husband asked him "Did anyone get hurt?" And my son replied "Oh gosh yes...but none of us! Big Grin". Too funny.

My shopping is probably a about 75% complete. That's pretty organized for ME! lol. Been doing LOTS of online shopping this year. Just don't have the patience for the crowds and some of the rude store clerks I have encountered recently.

Hope all is going well with everyone. Our boys will soon be home with us again! YIPEEEEEE! This snow is good for getting me in the Christmas spirit. I don't know how you gals in Florida, Texas and California do it! rolleyes I envy you gals 11 months out of the year! thumb But I'll take my snowy Decembers that 12th month!
Hey chickies...

As Kelly said we have SNOW. I don't like snow but I can drive in it(I am from NY), the problem is that these fools down here have NO CLUE how to drive in snow. I watched a woman in SUV with Florida tags try to park in 3 inches of snow, it was the funniest thing I had ever seen.

I've been busy with basketball practice and my point guard is sick. I distrubted anti-bacterial hand sanitizer at practice, I'm trying to cut down on the "cooties". My girls are hilarous, sometimes I forget that they are only 3 and 4th graders. They were mad at me because I was on their cases about getting out of shape over Thanksgiving, they ran one suicide and were huffing and puffing like a bunch of old ladies.

I was expecting a musician friend, who is drving from San Fran to Woodstock, NY to be stopping by this weekend...lord knows where he is now. So I am stuck in the house with nothing to do!! I guess I have to clean Mad

The NAPS battallion was supposed to be going to the NAVY-army game in Philly, but with the weather situation travel is a little unsafe.

I HATE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO NAVY!!!BEAT army!!!!!
