Recently had a discussion about hitting with a friend. I know, no generally recommended for a long friendship... Smile

However, On a perfect pitch, right down the middle, where should the bat contact the pitch to generate the most power? I know we hit inside pitches out front, middle pitches a little deeper and outside pitches deeper yet.

Just wondering out loud....does that perfect spot vary from hitter to hitter?

Thanks

IMO, the only variation on contact position from hitter to hitter would be the length of their arms. Front arm would be pretty much straight and close to the body while the back arm should be bent (between 45 and 90 degrees) and elbow close to the body with the hands in front of the bellybutton. The front knee should be pointing at the Pitcher on a pitch down the middle. I am talking about the GOAL, but it will vary some from pitch to pitch and the timing of the hitter. Contact position should be the same for each hitter and the only change would be to turn the belly button and back knee in the direction of the hit. IOW, the arms should end up extended in front of the body for the most powerful position. Again, this is just the GOAL and could change as a result of timing or movement of the pitch.
