I'm sure I will be wrong, but I am thinking Hultzen from UVA. A lefty who is also a great hitter as he is a two-way player going to a National League team seems to make the most sense.

The Pirates will take a wide receiver, and try to trade him with the Bengals.
Seriously....if the Pirates have any sense they will take Hultzen. I hope and pray they don't and the Nationals get Hultzen, so I can see him play in the coming years. The Nationals will be a force.

The local media is reporting that the Pirates will take Gerrit Cole from UCLA....
But...
They also say that there wasn't previously a clear-cut choice for the top pick, with the Pirates considering as many as five players over the course of the spring.
Recently, though, that list had seemingly been whittled down to three: Cole, University of Virginia lefty Danny Hultzen and Rice third baseman Anthony Rendon.
All the local talk shows have them no longer considering Rendon....
so Cole or Hultzen seems to be the one.....
We will see tonight if they knew what they are talking about....

Interesting that Rendon's name is even coming up.
The Pirate's drafted and paid a fortune to Pedro Alvarez in 2008. Most felt (including me) that Alvarez was a no-brainer pick and a sure-fire star for years to come. Hasn't quite worked out that way and demonstrates some of the bad luck the Pirates have had.
