Had a neat talk with my Dad last night, discussing the recent leak of Ortiz and Manny on list from 2003. Seems like Arod was leaked and forgiven, and he was the biggest name caught (to me Palmeiro was made to look a fool, everyone knew Bonds, Sosa, and even Mcgwire were on something). Seems like if you are going to let the cat out of the bag on a list that was never supposed to link names to tests, instead of leaking a few, you'd let it be known. So, knowing how big Arod was to the game of baseball, who is baseball protecting? Is there someone on that list who's name is so vital to the game?

Who do you think it is?

MLB and the Players Union agreed (in writing) that the results of these test would not be made public. So MLB or the PU would be breaking the terms of that agreement if they were to release the names. It is much more likely that the release of names is coming either from law enforcement (the Feds siezed the results and the samples) or from lawyers who have access to some of the info that the Federal agents and prosecutors have.

There is no practical way to stem the dribbling out of names, nor can the PU or MLB release the list.
