I had to come on here to tell you about the Stan-Mill-Mitt. I used to get these bad blisters, on the thumb and palm, until i went to Strike's and got a pair of the S-m-m. Not only did the blister's go away, but my bat speed seamed to increase because i could'nt hold the bad tight because of the padding perfectly added to the glove. Great for cold weather, and the fielding glove for under my catcher's glove stoped that deep bone bruise under my index finger, and it protected my thumb when i catch the ball wrong. They also lasted the entire year!!!!! Plus if somthing goes wrong i know the invertor/owner of the glove Plus after like 5 minutes of hitting the padding mold's perfectly to fit you hand.
LTheavy,
I Started using the Stan Mill Mitt in '83 or '84 I believe. My favorite use of the stan Mill was under my glove. I was an infielder and loved the snug feeling under my glove as well as the lack of any fear of bone bruises. Infielders need to catch the ball where it hurts most, in the hand. Try that with the "bad copy" palmguard and you are out of luck.
They have really come a long way since those early days for sure. Steve has an open and creative mind and is willing to try different designs. I don't know how many there have been but it has been quite a few. A sign of a good product the ability to adapt and improve.
I have to admit I was not a big fan of the padding while I was hitting. Steve got me a pair without padding for hitting. By far the best quality gloves I ever used. So if you don't like the padding, ask Steve if he has any without. To me the Stan Mill is about the quality of materials and construction as much as it is the padding. That's just me of course. I can't promise you'll be able to get them without padding but it never hurts to ask.
Thanks
Jim Donovan

Nice ad(s) for option one, do you guys think you could have added a website address, email, or phone number, and hours of operation along with the address of the company so we could all order them?

I think the padding makes the glove and i feel it not only protects my hand's but make's me not grip the bat too tight for better bat speed.
Seriously guys (or guy), is this an attempt at an ad for the product? Very subtle, but when you have 3 or 4 peolpe (screen names) all with less than 5 posts and a few with 1 or 2, it seems kind of obvious.
If you want to advertise on this site about a baseball related product, contact Bob, the gentleman who runs the site, and inquire about ad rates. I'm sure he'd be happy to accommodate you, and your advertising dollars.

GloveMan,
Do not presume you know anything about my motivation to post reguarding these gloves. Stick around and you'll see many more posts on many different subjects.

Gloveman,
I don't know who LTHSheavyhitter is. I do know the inventor of the glove and have for over 25 years. He is not that type of guy. I have significant personal experience reguardig the gloves. I am relatively new to the site and was under the impression that people add their personal experiences to the forum. Isn't that the whole idea? If I am out of line please help me understand why.

Thought this was a pole????? no response needed??? dah!
Poll lol
Linedrive11,
That is an unnecessary condescending response. If people have experiences to share on a given topic, they should do so. I do not agree with Gloveman, I think he is wrong.

Glove Man.....
Don't get your "shorts in a bunch"!!!! I'll guess, and say that this product is not available at your local sports store, and I'll also guess and say that this product may not be 'mass produced' like the Franklin's, Nike's, Rawling's, etc.
It doesn't sound like someone is trying to sell anything here, online!!!!
"What's the beef"????? There are probably players out there that have tried these hitting gloves, and feel they work well for them. There is nothing wrong with sharing that information. And if somebody wants to have some fun with conducting a poll, so what.
If there is a problem with this, then I'm sure HSBB folks will let someone know it isn't acceptable.
Do you have a product like this, or that has a similar name? I'm just curious. Maybe you could contact me by PM, and let me know if you have a catalog.

Linedrive11,
Why would you care one way or another if anyone wants to give a response? Glover was right, that was a pretty condescending remark.

Boomer,
I don't see any problem what glove man said. Look at the post and look up the date the posters registerd. I think gloveman's comments are appropriate. I did a little research and it does appear to be a little regional horn tooting by the "strikes" people and some "ghost" poster validating. I tried the internet to find out some info on the product (which I've never heard of) to no avail. It may be a great product but it does appear to be an invalid poll. Items are mass produced because those particular items are in high demand.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I haven't seen it in the stores.

I wasnt going to say a thing until I read fungo's post! Guess because we were the first padded gloves and then other's have copied off us Scott wanted to help me out, I really dont know why he did ,use your research and ask him why he did it. I have always respected your opinion, and always will!! I know that 'JimD' was an excellent player in the late 80's, early 90's. Beenthere can vouch for that.
Having said this, I know that this product is used locally here, by many high school, college, and like Strikes3100 said, even some pros. My son also uses this product.
If there is some "rule" against this type of information being posted on these boards, I would like to know about it. I agree totally that if there is such a rule, the poll shouldn't have been conducted in the manner in which it was, if it appears to be promoting this product.
If Glove Man has products that he would like to promote, and can't, then he is justified in his analogy of this particular 'topic' if there are rules stating so. I am in favor of 'fair play' and respect any decision that you, or the HSBB folks make. I'm sure others will also respect that decision as well.
Fungo, I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving. We might be heading your way around 'spring break' and tour Vandy.

Glove man...While I am not certain, I believe many of the initial (less than 5 posts) posters have only recently found this site because several of them go to/for lessons at Strikes and have learned that this site is a wonderful source of information for local baseball (Illinois) and national recruiting information; and, lastly, to get information about some of the kids that they may/might know.
I suppose their mention of this particular kind of batting glove is comparable to someone talking about a kind of bat, glove, etc., from the "big" sellers, i.e., Nike, Mizuno, Rawlings, Wilson, etc.
If you have a product that has some "local flavor", let us know and put it on the site.
I didn't think that it was any big "thing".

I like the feel that the Stan-Mill batting gloves give you on the bat. But I LOVE the one that I use for catching. I have never found any better.
Strikes3100 and BoomerIL,
Strikes3100, I'm glad you responded. As the information developes it starts to make sense. I don’t think the message about the batting gloves was improper but I do question the method in which the topic was started. (a little). I think it would been more appropriate just to come out and tell about the gloves and let the topic develop by itself. Tell Scott he did good by just getting involved. I really don’t think it’s a big deal. After reading the post by Stikes3100 I was impressed with how the gloves are made and how they were developed. Interesting.
In the past we have all seen post on the HSBBW become very bogus and biased as they develop (or are guided). One of the first indicators is the topic direction is very obscure. Secondly, the first couple of replies are by new members and are used to guide the topic in a particular direction. Sometimes brand new posters attempt to validate the original post. I think Gloveman saw that and responded. I think he was doing the right thing. He was just doing what all of us know we have to do….govern ourselves.
Thanks for the information and looking forward to a lot more in the future.
Thanks for the link too. I haven’t looked it up but plan too shortly.
BoomerIL,
Vandy is a great institution and the baseball program is looking great. Best of luck,
Fungo

I'm glad we kind-of resolved this, somewhat, misunderstanding amongst some posters. I don't think anyone was trying to create any problems. Maybe some people over-reacted, maybe not. I'm glad again it was clarified.
As always, cooler heads prevail!!
Thanks

Steve...Brian uses the gloves I got off you for all of his practice hitting....says he can take a ton more swings with them and it helps reminds him to keep the bat in his fingers....hasn't used them in games yet...but loves them for all the BP....which far exceeds game use...
when you coming out to sunny AZ??...you can get my cell # from Bill O'Brien....same for you Palmer...lol
