Hard to argue with any four above, but

 

Palmer ERA was identical to Seaver, same time period.

 

Frank Robinson wasn't bad.

I would pick - Mays, Griffey, Bonds, & Maddux

Have no idea what we are talking about here but I do know if we are picking four of the greatest players and Aaron's name is not on the list it is a sham.

Aaron and Mays should be on any list, living or not.

 

Aaron may be the most underrated player of all time.

My guess is the hometown boy will get a nod, so Bench.  Then left to pick three of the next 7, I'd go with Aaron, Mays & Seaver.

 

No real wrong answer.  Any four of the eight.  I'd be amazed if Bonds is selected though.

I'd have to say Aaron and Mays are shoe-ins.  I'd go with Seaver next.  He had 311 wins and a 2.86 ERA on some of the worst teams to ever play MLB .  Fourth choice is tough.  Kofax was superb, but only 165 wins.  Could be Bench, but only a .267 average. Could be Bonds, but I don't think he'll be voted.  He would probably be my choice, just don't think the steroid crew will let that happen.  I'm going to have to go with Pedro.  So:

 

Aaron, Mays Seaver, Pedro.

No mention of Roger Clemens, one of the greatest RHP's ever, yet Barry Bonds is on the list.

Maddox, Ripken, Gibson, Randy Johnson, and many others could be added, but all eight they have listed belong.

For the record, I agree there are plenty of guys to choose from who are not on the given list.  I wonder who decided on the 8 there are to choose from?  

Not a Yanks Fan....but Derek Jeter might very well appear.  He is going to be considered the best SS ever by many, although I think Wagner is.

 

For me though Aaron, Mays, Seaver and Schmidt 

 

Several viable candidates.
