Why close thread ??

In the closed thread, i think Coho said it very well. It is a shame that although the young men an d women that attend that school will be the future leaders and are fine young people...much the same for any high school, just look the article in today's Herald regaring the acedemic allstars. WYHS hasnt cornered the market on brain cells. That many of us are negatively slanted towards the sports teams there. I just wonder if the parents, in particular the baseball moms and dads agree with the marketing efforts of Mr. O.

Let's not go overboard here. This was not a free speech issue. This was, only in part, a thread that was getting too personal in nature and needed to be ended. Don't think that Julie or any moderator just routinely decides to lock a thread.

In addition, there are always things that happen behind the scenes that are not always apparent to the posters on the board. That is becoming more and more common and is unfortunate.

I locked the thread after the person who started the thread agreed/suggested in one of his posts that it was time to close it. However, it is much more than that. With the nature of pms, I'm not at liberty to clarify. It'd be an understatement to say that the complaints were numerous. FYI, even some of the posts were "watered down/edited" via moderator intervention in an attempt to stop the arguments which included, at one point, removing poster's real names.

sulltiger, I don't understand the suggestion that we moderators only take actions towards certain posters. I believe we are very consistent in attempting to prevent this from being a "flaming board." If you've noticed, in several threads I've stated so with regards to various posts. We are not and will not become a "flaming site." If that is the intent or interest of any poster then they are going to find themselves on the outside looking in. Note - it is often hard to moderate the Illinois Forum due to the nature of "good natured rivalries" i.e. Cubs vs White Sox when, as a moderator, you have to also worry about posters getting out of hand and lawsuits threatened. Believe me, I've been there.

If anyone including Mark wants to pm me on this, please feel free to do so.

You're right rosy. What happens in Vegas does indeed stay in Vegas...trouble for you is this place isn't in Vegas. It's in Henderson at Palo Verde Dr. at South Boulder Rd. They don't ask too many questions when you're picking up an order.

Thanks Rosy...it was a long season. Bret had the sophomore curse! Injury after injury...Got into a couple of games, but its hard to do well when you aren't 100 percent. Hopefully next season will be better for him AND SIU.

Hows Jordan doing? Great I hope. Tell him Good Luck next year!

Good pick on the moderator position. Good man for the job! Keep those Sox fans in their places!

Unfortunately that is becoming an increasingly easier task as each day passes this season.

Although MO was irritating, I have to say that his ability to communicate via the written word was impressive. He should be a sportswriter. However, succinctness IS a virtue !

Succinct or not I do know that when it comes to Whitney Young HS MO is a virtuoso !
