Manny Machado - what got him so mad Friday on the tag that he acted like a jerk?  I've just seen bits and pieces of the highlights but don't see anything that justifies him getting ticked off.  It does look like yesterday that the Oakland pitcher was throwing at his knees which he had surgery on - I could see that making him mad.  But overall, unless there's a prior history, lot of wrong stuff going on here.

1.  Machado getting mad after getting tagged by Donaldson Friday

2.  Orioles pitcher hitting Donaldson that same game

3.  Abad throwing at Machado's knees after surgery

4.  Machado throwing the bat at Abad

Coach - You got me.  This was has me scratching my head too.  Seems out of character.   Is he expecting everyone to treat him like a china doll?

I hate to say this but I will anyway.   If he is going to be sensitive about his knees after surgery, maybe he shouldn't play right now.  MLB pitchers will take any advantage they can get.  Guess where I'd be pitching him if I was an MLB pitcher.....you got it....low and inside.

I think there's a difference between throwing low and in on a surgically repaired knee to throwing at a surgically repaired knee.  One is part of the game and the other is trying to take someone out.  I've never really understood the unwritten rules but I can respect them at the professional level.  But when you have unwritten rules that means they are open to interpretation which could go wrong.  I see this as a situation where it went wrong.  Machado is looking like a jerk so his teammates need to realize he's going to get hit in an at bat coming up.  No need to escalate it by throwing at an Oakland player.  Especially finding out that he hit Oakland's catcher twice on a backswing.  You're being a jerk - take your plunking like a man and move on.  But this got out of hand because they "had to defend their teammate".  Like I said the unwritten rules make no sense to me.

I'm an Oriole fan, but Machado's actions during that tag play were at the very least disappointing.  It wasn't that hard of a tag.

What was truly disgusting was when he allowed his bat to hit the catcher.  Don't tell me he didn't mean to do it.  The bat slinging was just icing on the cake.  As far as I'm concerned he can sit at home for 5 or more games.  I wouldn't even want him on the bench.
