Lot of recent talk about the draft, showcases, and the like (none of which am I qualified to opine on), and I thought this blog post by Kyle Boddy from last June may interest the board: www.drivelinebaseball.com/2015...ruited-for-baseball/

P.S. -- I did ask a question recently on this board about when to showcase, and got lots of good advice from experienced posters, which mirrored Kyle's take about showcasing too early.

Well I was a 5'7" 135# guy that threw about 75 MPH, pure singles hitting CF, with great distance speed (Ran a 4:17 mile in HS), but my burst speed was suspect at best .

In college I grew into a 5'10" 165# guy who played a few weekends of slow pitch softball. I still was a single / doubles guy with a 75 MPH arm at best. Didn't see any scouts at games or I think I would have been drafted

Kyle is awesome and spot on.

Best advice, don't showcase until you have something to show and dont even think about it if you are hurt!

Isn't this really a matter of the Dunning-Kruger effect, which is seen in all walks of life???
