I just watched a piece where the Director discussed the documentary, the video which was retrieved and some of Willie’s formative years in Birmingham and with the Barons.
Personally, I was captivated reading about Willie in “The Life and The Legend.” Getting a glimpse into the challenges he faced just trying to buy a house while he starred as the best player in baseball was alarming!
When I just learned about the documentary today, I immediately thought of you! Not surprised you have already posted.
Greatest of all time on the field where, after some years, the color of his skin didn’t matter to many. Quite different outside of baseball for far too many years!

yes, that is a great book. During the 1960’s Willie often visited our Burlingame Tire store and my home. A different time.
