I need to know how many innings pitched in high school 7 inning games are required for a win. IE: 1st pitcher 3 innings 6 run lead 2 pitcher 1 2/3 4 eearned, 3 rd pitcher 1 1/3 1 earned. Home team won by 1 run. What guy gets the win?
JMW speaks the truth. And as the father of a pitcher this does suck, but based on your stats, the third pitcher that only allowed one run and preserved the win, gets credit for it.

Are you sure? I thought it was whoever pitched over half the game. Which is how they came up with 4 innings for a 7 inning game and 5 innings for a 9 inning game. I would have thought it would be 1st 3 for a shortened 5 inning game.
I'm 99% sure. My attempt to be 100% sure was intercepted by an expired membership to NFHS, so I couldn't download the most recent rulebook and check. I also couldn't find last year's on my somewhat disorganized hard drive.
I remember looking this up in detail a few years ago, when my freshman son was credited with a four inning save (pitched 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th and held lead). I thought this was "wierd" so I read into it in detail. Can't site a reference, however.
