Not sure how many of you have money trees in your backyard, but my money tree is not bearing fruit this year.   I'm not going out of my way to visit Fenway this year, which means I will be seeing the Red Sox play somewhere else...probably in Baltimore or Tampa Bay.  I can book round trip airline tickets to a Rays home game less expensively than going to a Red Sox home game, and there is no rainout possibility as it is indoors.    As far as I'm concerned the Red Sox front office can pound sand for many, many reasons.   As I look at this, I find it humorous that the Milwaukee Brewers (a team founded on beer and beer sales) has the second most expensive beer....not sure why.  My wife and I are planning a hiking trip out West, and I may have to drop in to see a Rockies game as it looks like a deal.

Yankees and Red Sox tickets are in the stratosphere.   Yankees are #3 in 2022 payroll and Red Sox are #6 in 2022 payroll according to Spotrac.   Padres may be your best value as their payroll is #5 in 2022 while the cost for a family of 4 is $176.76.  https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/

If I was you I'd just go to every Flying Squirrels home game.  When I was there a couple months ago I got to say hello to Will Clark and had my photo taken with Nutsy.  $15 I think for great seats.  My wife loves MiLB games even more than I do, mainly because I don't always insist on staying until the last out is made.

I hear you, and I do go to Squirrels games and have a lot of fun.  Many times, I've seen HSBBWeb posters sons playing which is pretty cool.    Recently went to two Flying Squirrels vs Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA) game back in late June (my birthday, wedding anniversary, and fathers day).  Love going to those MiLB games.  Mascots Nutsy and Nutasha do make it a very fun for families at the Richmond Diamond.  "Go nuts!" is the team team cheer.

But, AA does not equal MLB, and I've got to see a Red Sox game at least once a year to satisfy that childhood itch.

My daughter took her fiance to a Cardinal's game for a part of his birthday gift.  They spent roughly $220 according to her and had a blast.  Apparently, he ate and drank what he wanted and she was a little more conservative.  He can put away the groceries and is thin.  Oh, the blessings of youth.

I never purchase more than a soda in the park. The beer and hot dogs are crap. I have dinner before I go in. Unfortunately Eastern Standard shut it’s doors.

The only game I’ve been to this year I was a guest in a catered box. I’m not spending money on the Sox until they spend money on themselves. I’m tired of seeing Bloom dumpster dive for players making the Sox Tampa on the Charles.

Because people in Wisconsin drink more than anywhere else in the country.  The Brewers know they can charge anything they want for beer and a large portion of their crowd is going to get absolutely staggering drunk at every game.

I agree that MLB prices are high.....but, you can go to a game a lot cheaper than those prices.

I've gone to Yankee games this year and you can pay $30 (stubhub fees included) for a ticket. With lounge access.

I  got both my kids $99 (each) SRO tix for the month of July. They can go to every game, and then just go sit in an empty seat.

As for parking at Yankee stadium, plenty of the 3rd party lots have parking that ~$30. I mean it's not the early 90s where you parked in front of a bodega and paid the guys out from $5 to not mess with/watch your car, but still....

I paid about the same for pretty good Mets tickets earlier this year, both on the secondary market, and from the Mets on a promotion.

Just went to a AAA game; costs for me and my 17-year-old:  $30 for two tickets in the outfield, $7 for parking, $55 for 2 bbq meals, 1 beer, 1 soda, 1 tea, crackerjack, peanuts (talked him out of cotton candy this time).  Total $92 for two people.

Looking at the above list, those MLB tickets are pretty cheap - really, you can get a ticket for $7 each?  I guess maybe with some special family discount?  I don't remember ever paying less than $10/ticket.

No one will give a crap about the Sux in four days. They’re irrelevant with Chaim “The Dumpster Diver” Bloom in charge. Patriots camp starts on the 27th. Red Who?

it’s hard to stay interested in the Sux when management doesn’t want to pay players. I can understand being very careful about signing free agents. But you don’t let your established stars get away … Lester, Betts, next up Bogaerts. The Sux and Devers are light years apart on money. Devers may see the direction of the team and not want to stay. Add in the Sux traded all star Benintendi for garbage.

I agree RJM.   They've gone from  THE talk of the town for years to an absolute professional sports afterthought.   My buddies that still live up there talk about (in order) Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and then the lowly Red Sox.   I've always been a Red Sox first guy, so this irritates me more than most of my buddies who seem over it.   I'm not sure what ownership's master plan is here, but it all seems very contrary as they have the 6th largest payroll but nothing to show for it.   They've either got to decide to keep their core (Cora, Bogaert & Devers) or do a total rebuild which is a nice way to say....$hit or get off the pot.   Nothing in the middle is going to work.   Also, they have a lot of contracts that will expire this year....that is the good news.  I don't need to tell you the bad news.

I figure by next year the Sux are good for a couple of years in last place. PIvetta will be the staff ace. He’s still trying to prove he won’t flame out after the all star break. Eovaldi will be gone. Bello isn’t ready.  Wacha and Hill are on one year deals. Give it up on Sale until he proves something. He’s done nothing since 2018. Sale should change his name to Al. Al Batross Sale. It’s a good name for his contract. What two bullpen pitchers would you care if the Sux lose outside Houck and Whitlock?

Next year the Sux have two outfield holes and an OK outfielder/hitter in Verdugo. They will have holes at second (Story moves to short after Bogaerts leaves) and catcher (they’ve made zero attempt to resign Vasquez). First base will be a quality prospect. No guarantees the first year. Wasn’t Dalbec a quality prospect?

Based on what I believe will be the roster next year (less talent and more dumpster diving) the Sux should be good for 68-72 wins.

Keep in mind after coming close to getting to the World Series in 2020 the Sux did little to get better in 2021. And they’re not.

Not to rile up the Boston fans, but I see the Celtics are aggressive in getting Durant.  Offering Jaylen Brown, but the Nets counter is Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.  My counter would be to take Jaylen Brown and make the Celtics take back Kyrie....... That would blow up the team good.

I believe there are some wannabe GM sportswriters who are being more aggressive about obtaining Durant than Brad Stevens. Stevens has talked repeatedly about team balance and chemistry and not blowing up the core of this past season’s team.
