I use a wood bat in the cage hitting off a tee and taking flips from 10 feet away about 3-5 times a week. for maybe 1-2 hours with 3-5 people also hitting. I have a Louisville Slugger Ash bat and there are pieces of wood that are chipping off. Nothing really big but just little pieces and there are parts on the bat that i could just rip a decent sized piece off. Is this something to worry about?? If so i want to get a new wood bat for christmas and i will prolly want a maple or ash?

I have one, and used it in a cage for the first time, (I always took bp with baseballs - live arm, soft toss, tee) I've had for two months, take a lot of cuts a week, with out getting any kind of dents, scratches, gashes, etc. But when I went to the batting cages with the rubber balls, it left small gashes. So I'm guessing medical tape is the trick?
