For cage or game?

For endurance, the Brett Bros. Bamboo Dragon is good. As is the Baum bat. The latter are pricey. You might or might not be able to use them in some wood bat tourneys, as they are both composite.

For regular wood, you might look at the Cheasapeake Thunder by Talbot Turnings. You can pretty much get them any way you want.
Texan - I am looking for one for games...preferably one that guarantees lots of hits. Smile Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks PD and OP....since we need it quickly we will probably need to check out the local joint you mentioned and get one off the shelf. Smile

BTW, make the next one a big one PD....it seems like just yesterday you were hitting the big 1000.

Cheap,

I bought my son a maple bat from Academy Sports about two years ago. He still has this same bat. We have bought several other wood bats from various places. Maple,Bamboo, etc... He no longer has those. I guess you never know if the bat will last. Remember though, if you buy cheap that is exactly what you get.
I have owned three wood bats in my life all three dbats. The first one lasted two years and then i gave it to a teammate that was able to use it. It is in use and still has no cracks or chips on it(maple). Then I heard of the "mess up bats" which are the test bats for 15 dollars at dbat. I went and got a 35 inch and 34 inch and I paid 15 for each one. The 35 inch snapped after three monthes and the 34 i have been using for two years in games and the cage. So i personally prefer the dbat maples. I also would like to add that i have seen 3 sam bats that broke after the first at bat with it.

A bat that is great for the cage is the "LOG" sold at dbat. It helps with making your hands quicker. And making your forearms a pretty good workout.
I will have to descredit SOME bamboo bats. And honestly, there is no formula to which. Two very fine hitters I know had the same bamboo bat I had and it broke within the first week (one said the first day). Mine broke in the first 2 weeks. I know one guy who has used it for 3 months now and has had no problems... same model make and everything.

Sounds like someone got into your kitchen and they haven't gotten in his yet!!
Baumbats are fairly expensive, but they will out last any wood bat out there - about 1/2 of our DABA College team used the same BAUM Bat for 2 seasons now with any issues - during the same time the DBATS / SAMBAT's / Bamboo Bats broke pretty regularly - Especially in college leagues were guys throw harder, the Baum bats (composite) will last much longer than other bats

If you want to pay $120 - $145 per bat they better not break. Who uses the same woodbat all season?

I am not a math major, but if you would rather spend $50 to $70 per bat and break 3 or 4 in a season vs. $120 or $145. I guess you have never used one, they don't break!
Sam Bats are the best! son had 3 that lasted a couple years...that's summer & fall 2 times over, for average 3 AB per game x 70-90 games each year. I'd say he got his our moneys worth! Went thru a few too many of the 2tone painted variety before I learned about Sam Bats.

Word to the wise...when you buy a painted bat, you can't see the grain...
The grain needs to be even thru out...shows growth at regular rate....and straight lines. Wiggles are weakness.
Sam Bat sold to Louisville Slugger a couple years ago, but the man who originated them started a new company...doing the same old thing!
