Wood Composite Bat Question?

I'm looking in to getting a Composite Wood bat that is not only durable, but one that pops like a regular maple/ash bat. My brother has recently ordered a Baum, so I'll have that to use, so for people who say that Baum is best, what 's your 2nd favorite?

KR3, Tom Cat, CTG Woody, Radial, ???

Also, what is the word on these bats that are called "composite" but are actually just a regular wood bat with some sort of "composite" shell on it?
I've seen some offered with a basalt or fiberglass sleeve over the bat. Anybody have any experience with these?
