The GSBL is a wood bat league in NJ that runs a league and tournaments during the summer and fall. They use wood bats in all their divisions from 13 up to college unlimited. My question to you folks are do you prefer wood or metal and why?

They have an article posted on their site about the benefits of wood bats located at www.gardenstatebaseball.com

If you live in the New Jersey area and need a team for the Summer and/or Fall please contact me at scoutball@aol.com

Managing in a 17-18 summer wood bat league with teams from MD, VA, DE, NJ, NY, and CT, I'd have to say I see advantages to both wood and metal. Wood means shorter games, better defense, hitters learn how to keep the hands inside the ball, and great hitters really shine! Metal means college coaches get a better look at what they are getting, less misreads on balls to the OF, and assures your team will see more "situations" both offensively and defensively during the course of a game.

I don't like the idea of strictly playing wood for the 13-16 yr. old age groups. Hitting with wood can be very demoralizing, and very expensive!
