Of course I can only speak for my son, but he works out light during the season. Heavy on the running, and long toss. Off season is when he hits it hard, weights, med-ball, long toss, and alot of running. Doesn't touch weights at all during the season. Seems to work for him. He pitches once a week and does a pen on his off days once a week. His idea is that baseball players are made in the off-season, and you have to prepare yourself for a long grueling season. You have to be in playing shape and ready to go when that first practice starts, he has never been one of those that when the season is over, he puts the glove down and when tryouts begin, dusts it off and starts. He does long toss 3 times a week in the offseason, and runs, med-ball, and weights three times a week. Don't know about others.
