sorry, I haven't checked out the site in awhile.
Wed. night is finals for WPIAL.
AAAA Seneca Valley vs. Mt Lebanon. SV has a strong team, probably start Matt Smith on mound. He is a Georgetown committ. He and my son squared off in son's last HS start, It was a 3-2 loss, 3 unearned runs in top of 7th. SV doesn't have to many weak spots, another D1 kid is Sid Breams son ( Liberty), clean up spot. SV is from our section son's team was 0-2 this year against them. Their 2,3 pitchers will not hurt them when given the chance.
Mt. Lebo is also solid. Lead off kid Luke Hagey is all everything for them. Football, basketball, baseball. Son's team played them in non section game beat them 3-0, we used 3 different pitchers. I wasn't at that game so don't know much about them. They beat North Allegheny to get there, NA team was in our section and they are always a tough out in the playoffs, so if Mt. Lebo. beat them they can hang with anyone.
Both SV. and Mt. lebo qualify for state playoffs. Either team will make you earn a win.
AAA Blackhawk is the only team I have seen play. Son's team played them on SR. night game after they lost to SV. They have 1st class catcher Emge, Ohio State committ. That kid is the real deal. rest of team played well in a 4-0 win. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the game, to many other things going on. They have a soph. lefty pitcher that everyone is raving about, he is 7-1 on the year, I think he is to start the championship game.
AAAA only gets two teams into the state playoffs, I don't know how many the other classifications get. AAAA teams from WPIAL have had pretty good succes the last 5 yrs.
Best of luck to any one still playing, my son is on to summer ball and getting ready for the fall. Hard to believe HS graduation is in a few days.
