Understand that for the College team.... college camps are fundraisers for the college program first.....

Then secondly they are also an opportunity to see some prospects...

As an attendee....you need to understand that a camp is an opportunity to work on skills, see how you match up against other attendees, and possibly be seen by the program......

That being said, Coach Van Zandt is a great guy, camps are run very well. The players are good to the campers.....roster recently shows a good number of JC transfers from WVU's sister JC, Potomac State..

While admittedly there might be a "sour grapes" factor, having spoken to former players, not everyone has had good experience at WVU. The only direct personal experience was a friend's son who was led along for several months ("we're putting a package together", "we need to see a couple unexpected walkons", "you're our guy", "let us work out a plan") then at the 11th hour it was "sorry we found an in state kid that will be cheaper, but good luck".

WVU left a very sour taste as this kid wanted to go there badly and they simply strung him along.

Having said that, they have great facilities.

I have absolutely no opnion on the program, but only on the state in general. We drove through the state up to Wheeling and I was car sick from beginning to end. Wow...do you ever get used to those curving, windy, roads with there spectacular views (i.e. drop offs)? And the tunnels...Sure hate to drive it in the winter.

All that said Wheeling was a friendly town with a nice resort, Oglebay.
