C David Houser (2012 AC Flora HS, S.C.) may have made a run for MVP candidacy.

Houser went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs to help send the Canes 16s Green squad to the WWBA 16U national championship finals for the second straight year. Houser's first shot tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh and brought life back into the Canes' dugout after the Banditos had taken a 4-3 lead in the fifth thanks to a two-run bomb by Nick Williams (2012 Galveston Ball HS, Texas).

The Canes then retired the Houston side in order in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and proceeded to post a six-run eighth for the win.

LHP Cole Irvin (2012 Servite HS, Calif.) closed out the final 3 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.

Canes RF Josh Henderson (2012 home schooled, Va.) also hit well, going 3-for-4 with three singles. 1B Dylan Raymond (2012 Giles County HS, Va.) went 2-for-4 with a singled and a double, and CF Tyler Long (2011 Halifax County HS, Va.) went 2-for-4 with a single and a three-run homer that sparked the Canes' extra-inning rally.
