WWBA Jupiter Championship declared a tie by Perfect Game President Jerry Ford.

excerpted......
PG President Jerry Ford made the final decision to call the game, naming both clubs 2010 co-champions. Ford said, “After careful consideration of everything involved I felt it was the fairest decision and in the best interest of everyone involved. Looking at travel schedule and school concerns, along with the possibility of pitching injuries, it seemed like the best thing to do. We will be awarding championship rings to the players and coaches of both teams. It was a great tournament and many in our organization are angry with my decision, but under the circumstances it seemed right. I don’t like the outcome, but both teams played like champions and they definitely earned championship rings.”

Making tough decisions like the one he made today is why Jerry Ford is so well respected. He could have made all those players miss another day of school, over-use a pitching staff, miss flights home, incur extra expenses, etc... all for the sake of an eventual winner to be declared.

He checked his ego, got to the root of the issue ...SCOUTING (which did get done) and called it a day.

And, by the way, an extra 14 or so kids get rings.

Nicely done PGStaff!

Classy move by Jerry. Flights have to be made on time. Some of these kids can not afford to miss another day of school they already missed enough. Pitching staffs are already taxed to the limit in a long tourney such as this. It was simply the right thing to do and I am glad Jerry stepped in and did it. Both of these teams deserved to win so end it and let them both be champions. I love the picture of both teams together on the PG website.

I agree with your well considered post.

You will never make everyone happy, but overall it sounds like this was the best decision considering all the factors involved.
