The conversations on HSBBW seem to really stress the importance of the WWBA for exposure.
How about the BCS?

Is the PG BCS as effective as the WWBA in terms of college visibility? My son is a 2013, headed back for the BCS in July. They had been planning on WWBA, but schedule issues prevented that.

As a follow up to this question, since his team will have had two years at the BCS --along with several other good-visibility tourneys --- should he be sure to get to the WWBA next June (assuming all signs are pointing in the right direction for his potential at that time, of course.)

I think I understand the value of playing wood vs metal in terms of college scout perspective, so I imagine that is part of the dynamics of why WWBA gets seen as the "must do" tourney. I guess I am just trying to get a sense of the BCS is also a highly scouted and effective place to be in the summer prior to junior year
Thanks!

VHS you are right --- in my question, I mean recruiters / college 'scouts'. It might be wrong to use that term scout when referring to colleges.

So I wonder if the WWBA sees more MLB scouts, which is not a factor for us, just looking for exposure to a wide range of colleges for him.
They are both good events. The WWBA is a must while the BCS is an experience. In the past the BCS was a non factor. Last year however, I spoke to quite a few coaches that were headed down to FL between the 17u and 16u WWBA. The 16u WWBA is getting very popular amongst the recruiters also being that guys are competing to get a jump on the young talent. The Georgia events are still a blast and every year is a new adventure that we enjoy.

When the new PG facility opens it will really be something else. Hopefully I still have the drive to continue.
Coach Merc, and everyone else above, thanks. I really appreciate it!

I really hope BCS is no longer a 'non factor' because that is where we are headed, 16U. It is July 2 - 7 so before the WWBA 16 and 17s ... lets hope they plan their travel to FL 1st!

Couldn't do WWBA due to conflict with tourny in MA we are doing. And we can't do the Long Island PG because we are all still in school at that point in June, thanks to snow!!

Sounds like he needs to find a team to consider taking him on as a pitcher for Jupiter this fall.

Happy pitchers and catchers report day on Monday, all! TOo bad the Yanks don't have many pitchers to report!
Baseballmom,
And remember that if he does get on a Jupiter team as a pitcher only, he will pitch just a few innings during the tournament. It will be of UTMOST importance to contact the college coaches HE is interested in before going. If he calls them, it is likely they will come. The odds of being "discovered" are only related to his velocity.
