I hear that Ryan Zrenda, a graduate of Lyme/Old Lyme High School (Connecticut) has signed with the Orioles organization after finishing his collegiate career at Brown.
Do either of you know if Ryan was (partially) hurt in 2011? I looked at his bio, and there is only info about 2010 (great season!) and before. I saw some 2011 stats too.
My son's team played Brown (I was at game) in conference play, but I don't recall his name being mentioned all year, and he was not in the box score. He must be one heck of a player to pass up his senior year at Brown.
Zrenda, who had been one of Brown's most consistent players entering this season, battled his way through injury this year and finished 10th in program history with 584 at-bats. In just 15 Ivy League games this year, the senior tallied six runs, 13 hits, two doubles, a home run and nine RBI.
Thanks for the clarification. I got tripped up with the 2011 roster as some schools have not posted 2012 rosters yet. It was really bugging me that I had not heard of this young man. Ivy conference is small, so most know who is who. Zrenda has a big upside when healthy. I'll probably see him soon in minor league play as my neighbor (univ of Virginia pitcher ) was also drafted by the Orioles and playing in single-A Aberdeen.
