I went to the BC-Notre Dame game today. It was the last game of the season for BC. They didn't make the ACC playoffs. If there's justice in the world every senior's career would end this way. Two seniors are roommates. Neither one has had much of a college baseball career. i happened to be standing near their parents chatting with them leading up to the conclusion of the game.

The senior pitcher comes in to pitch the 8th down two. He has a career ERA around 5.00. He's had a sore arm and hasn't pitched in a couple of weeks. Earlier in he day the kid told his dad he has a lifetime to get over a sore arm. He's pitching today if called. The roommate is a backup outfielder with a career BA under .200.

Notre Dame is ahead 5-3. The kid comes into pitch and throws two perfect innings. BC ties the game with two in the 8th. Do I need to explain who got his first walk off hit in his last college game? The roommate. It was a hard line drive.

It was fun to watch the two parents hugging and dancing after the game winner. The hitter won it for his roommate pitcher. If nothing else these two can always say they played college ball in the ACC. But their career will be memorable due to the final two innings.. The win also gave the team their first .500 season for the senior class and a junior who is sure to be a first five round pick in the draft.

Great story.

Back when I played little league I along with few other kids were chosen to play in the all star game. One of the kids chosen at the last minute couldn't make it to the game. My father being one of the coaches picked another kid as a replacement. Long story short, the kid who was not suppose to be there ends up hitting a home run and winning the mvp.
