Molina--the 2nd year catcher for the Cardinals. It was his abilities that allowed the Cards to let Matheny go to SF.

Some like the Wilson mitt, but I prefer the Akadema mitt.
My son is a catcher so I watch them closely.Gotta agree with JT on Molina of Cards. As afterthought all the Molinas are pretty good...
I forgot--the plumber's snake. Great tool for backups, not so good for backstops. I had to loan mine out due to difficulties in the karma section.
You asked who has the best Glove? for that, my answer is Yadier Molina.
However, had you asked who was the best Catcher, I would have said Jason Varitek. he has some leadership, pitcher handling intangibles that most others do not.

Im lovin the love for yadi. My personal favorite player. I have the rawlings pro prefered, ilove it. Molina has unbelievable skills behind the plate, his arm is a cannon. Go Cardnals!!!!!
hmmmm. No "I" in team. Must be no "I" in Cardnals, either. Or is it the Karmardnals?
I have no idea how I could forget the Molinas in there. Keep it coming!
Yadi's a treat to watch, and although he doesn't yet have Matheny's skills in handling the pitchers (what with being about 12 and all), he's made remarkable strides in that direction. I truly hated seeing Mike go, even though it made sense for both sides, and was way more than relieved to see what Yadi had to offer as our starter.
More love for Yadi here!
(Mr3000, perhaps a bit more care in naming your topics, though. It took a great deal of self-retraint to not be rude. )

Varitek is the best all around fundamental receiver in the game and the leadership is a plus. Yadier is great and never forget Pudge.
Sure you're not just prejudiced in favor of the local boy, Coach ?
Actually I am a new englander originally, so red sox based. I didn't believe he was untl about 2 years ago. I think many knowledgeable game people have already chosen him as the catcher they would most want behind the plate on their team.
Biased, how about Our guys, Matheny and Molina?

It's natural to favor (or, conversely, be overly critical of!), the players you see most often. And as the parent of a catcher, I tend to watch the catchers on all teams. Matheny and Molina are just plain good. Mike's even still good as a Giant .
Thought perhaps you saw Jason at Lake Brantley!

I am a Sox fan, so of course I am biased, but I feel Varitek brings the best total package in the game. He has very few weaknesses defensively, has a very streaky but solid bat and the utmost respect of everyone he plays with.
Hard to argue with Pudge in his prime. But if we are talking today I am going with TEK.

THe 3 Muskters Molinas are 3 of the better cathcer and all 3 can be startign this year. But my vote has to go to Varitek or Matheny as the guy behind the plate.
As far as handling pitchers, you have to put Brad Ausmus in that group, as well.
