Hot off the press this morning is the news that Pittsburgh Pirate Rookie left-hander Zach Duke was named to the Topps Class AAA All-Star team. Duke went 12-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 16 starts this year with the Class AAA Indianapolis Indians before being promoted July 1 to the Pirates.
Duke went 8-2 with a 1.81 ERA in 14 starts for the Pirates while being named the National League's rookie of the month for July and August
If not slowed by injury late in the season, I and many of the Pirate faithful, feel that Zach had a legitimate shot at NL rookie of the year!.......Either way, what a year for one of our HSBBW alums!........Must make his dad (OPP)proud!!........Congrats Zach and OPP and MRS!
