08Dad was the first HSBBW father I ever met, as our sons both attended a PG showcase in 2006. We connected several time since as our sons continued their journeys in baseball.

Well, this summer our sons are on the same team. The first game was last night. My son was catching as the starting pitcher began the game with five straight BB's. After they all scored (without a hit) and one more BB, he gets yanked, and in comes 08Dad's son.

All he did was throw 5 2/3 innings of perfect ball. Our team scratched back into the game, and ended up winning 6-5, the W going to 08Dad's son.

It was great to watch a terrific performance, and also to see our sons team up on the field!

Hey Rob - first I digress... nice that you wrote your story in proper second person form (my son, our son, versus third person form Rob Kremer son, 08Dad son). It is very difficult to read many posts these days where people refer to their kids in the third person fwiw...

Great story! Did it end with a Rob Kremer-son walk-off homerun by any chance? - oops my bad - back to learning proper English Roll Eyes Big Grin
Rob:

Thanks for the write up - boy I wish I was there to see it... We've talked off and on over the last 5 years about them getting to play together and it finally happens!!!

You did neglect one detail - my son trying to kill your son late in the outing after your son had moved to first base. According to my son, the batter laid a bunt down the first base line, he fielded it and whirled and threw a bullet from about 15 feet away, not thinking about how close he was. Good thing your son has quick hands!!!

Emeraldvalley:

They are both playing in the WCL-Portland league. A second year league in the Portland area, with 6 teams who play each other plus a handful of games against other WCL teams. Very well run and offering good baseball.

Oh, was that funny! To add to the story, it was the first time my son has played first base since he filled in a few innings in the 7th grade. The bunt was a good one, the play was close, so Will couldn't just toss the ball. And so he threw it hard - right at that handcuff spot (his crotch!)

Jeff got that big old 1st baseman's glove turned around in time to save the next generation of Kremers, and jogged into the dugout next to Will, smiling together.

It was one of those uniquely baseball moments.
